1/18 Firefly Mod Kit

Post by pickelhaube » Thu Jun 03, 2010 2:37 pm

OK the sidecar orders are winding down. I still need to get out a couple of M-10s and I will be starting a new short kit.

I will be doing the Firefly mod kit ASAP AND the HUMVEE armor upgrade.

I am pretty sure that I will do the HUMVEE upgrade if there is a call for it.

The armor upgrade will consist of
armored door panels
correct grill
Ibis Tek front bumper WITHOUT THE WINCH
http://www.ibistek.com/download/FrontPr ... Bumper.pdf

Let me know if there is interest in the armor upgrade. Est price $25

I need to have a show of hands for this and the Firefly up grade. For interest and order of production.

If the Firefly gets more interest I will do that one first. Or if there is more interest in the HUMVEE upgrade that will be started first.

So again I need a show of hands for both kits. If there is a lack of interest I will shelve least popular one.

I would guess about $60-$80 for the Firefly short kit. Here is that link on the parts list.Go to page 2

viewtopic.php?t=21315&postdays=0&postor ... y&start=20

Again I need a show of hands and it about a week or so you guys will have one of these kits IN YOUR HANDS :D :D :D

Humvee Upgrade, I'd skip the bumper. I have not seen many Uparmored Hummers with that bumper.

By armored door panels do you mean the CIP panels?
I got mine a week or two ago, they're great btw.

No,

But they did add them on a more cut down version. Here is a pic with CIP armored door and the Ibis front bumper.

They are using the Ibis bumpers now. The newwest Humvee in action by Squadron Signal has quite a few pics of the bumpers on the Humms.

Here is a line of Humms with the armored door. It is a flat skin with rivet details and smaller windows.

Wow , only 4 guys for the Firefly kit and none for the Humvee armor upgrade .

Maybe it is time to do the full build.

I will probably start on one of these Wensday. So if there is any inpute now is the time.

Or should I do the M-3 Tank Destroyer?

There is not a lot of hands on these these 2 projects.

Have you got to F118th, yet? They would probably be interested in the Humvee kit, as would the Joe sites.

I am ready to do the T-34/76 but I do not think that there will be buyers.

The cost will be at $300-$350. That is how much the ONLY other 1/18 scale Russian kit is selling for and that is an assult gun. With no turret .
The guy made 300 of them or so and took about 3-5 years to sell them all. BUT THEY DID ALL SELL FOR $300-$35O AND THAT IS A FACT. !!!!!!!!!!!!

If I make the T/34 now I would have to have at least 10 guys to anti up.

I have 4 guys right now who would buy 4. But I need 10.

It would take about 2-3 WEEKS to make the prototype. That is how long it took to make the 222.

Russian pieces are a hard sell. But again if I get 10 guys to anti up I will skip the short kits and do the T-34/76 Tomorrow . As long as I get deposits.

But this post is not about the T-34.

It is about the Firefly and Humvee.

All righty then. I am doing the Firefly.

viewtopic.php?t=21034&highlight=tank+destroyer

I have the muzzel break and the barrel done .I also have the mantlet about 80% done. I will be able to post picks on Thurs.

I was trying to use the Panther barrel for the Firefly but it was just toooo thick. So I made it from scratch.

I started with the hardest thing first and if I can get a couple of full days in I could finish the full kit by the weekend.

For you guys who will get this kit. Would you guys want the tool box that piggy backs the radio box ?
