October 25, 2005--The container carrying the 21st Century 1:18 Rall Me-109, F-104C, and F-104G has arrived in port and is awaiting US Customs inspection. We have begun processing the Preorders (along with some August Prepaid Preorders) for these items and expect them to ship out later this week.

I hope you AC guys saved up during that dry spell. :P

Note the wink at the end. Just a bad attempt at humor on my part I guess.

There's no bigger proponent than me of seeing a 1:18 F-4 made, TRUST me.

F-104

Post by Folkwulfe » Tue Oct 25, 2005 3:19 pm

Ditto...just got my "Marine" F-104 yesterday and am very impressed. My only complaint is the pilot doesn't fit into the cockpit very well. Maybe more to scale than intended? Anyway, a very welcome addition to the collection...now I can't wait for the Vietnam version! As for the push for an F-4, brother do you have another proponent!!! Phantoms rule <wink wink, nudge nudge> and I can't come up with any other aircraft that wore so many different paint schemes or did so many jobs. Phantoms Phorever!

You have to remove the parachute for the pilot to fit in the F-104

I never put it on him....has something to do with the legroom. No matter how I try him, he is sitting a little tall in the seat and the canopy bumps his head. I forced him down far enough to close it, but just barely.

You have to try to work it in. It was difficult for me to get my pilot into my USAF F-104 at first. There seems to be a little ledge or ridge the the figure's feet catch. Bend the legs up at the knee joints as much as they will go, and then try to get the legs to go in and up over the little ridge. The space is narrow, so watch that the legs don't catch elsewhere.

Its no secret I want an A-10 but boy I'd love to have a couple of F-4's to a Vietnam Version and one flown by the Israeli Air Force, too cool.

richmond/va beach.

Haven't been looking much due to being busy with school so I may order it for x mas or a b day or something. I just wanted to know if there was a pictorial review on a website or something. I did read the reviews here, and it sounds very exciting!

Any fans of the Starfighter in the movie, The Right Stuff? Supposedly, the real Starfighter Yeager flew was the NF-104 without the wings' fuel pods and a longer vertical fin and engine exhaust than the version used in the movie. Nonetheless, it's that sequence in the movie that's impressed me since I first saw it and I want to model a screen-approximate version out of 21C's Starfighter, which brings me to these questions: (1) Does anyone make basic US AIR FORCE insignia in 1/18th scale? (2) What's the likelihood that 21C will consider making an NF-104 version of the Starfighter, or better yet, an F-104 made to look like the movie version? Thanks!

I see both Starfighters are back in stock at BCA for those who missed them. They also have all the 109Gs in stock.

I'm wondering when we're going to see the S2 and S4 versions up for preorder. They've been "on the water" for a few weeks now and no pre order has been posted. Kind of strange....

Has anyone contacted Bad Cat about the status of the S2 and S4 F-104?

I've contacted Bad Cat a couple of times about when the S2 and S4 F-104s will arrive. The website says that as of 11/9/05 they were "on the water" and would be there soon. I was told over the phone that when they recieve a confirmed ship date they would put them up for pre-order. I thought that when they were "on the water" they were being shipped? Anyone know how long it takes for the ship to travel from there to here? :?:

Hong Kong to Long Beach can be as short as 13 days (on a direct sailing - i.e. a vessel that doesn't make any other stops).

Average transit time is 45-60 days for a container, plus customs times on each end (containers usually need to arrive no less than 3 days before sailing, sometimes 5, and customs can take anywhere from 0 to 30 days, just depending on if someone's pissed off the custom's inspector lately.)

Of course, I've know of containers that took MUCH longer than that. (I'll post the story in the OT area...)
