Pictures of the JSI F-15

Post by Mitch » Sun Dec 27, 2009 11:15 am

Hi Guys

Don't know if this was covered yet, but on the JSI website http://www.js-int.net/news.html# under the news section is about 15 pictures of product including the F-15, Sherman with rockets, etc... these aren't new pictures because they were posted the last time I checked for new news about a month ago.

Thought I would share.

Agreed. The Huey and a Sherman Calliope would be awesome.

The F-15 in the "Strike Eagle" variation is great. It represents an aircraft type currently in use and which has proven itself numerous times in combat. I would be more wary of the first release being in an IDF scheme (a low vis USAF scheme would probably sell better) but whatever. I've reached the point where I'm maxed out as far as display space, so I will pass on this for the time being...

i'll be waiting for a usaf painted version of the F-15E too. I don't have the space for duplicates of these big birds and the IDF version doesn't interest me enough.

No room? Then its time to rotate out the stock. Right now I have some of my birds on loan to the local hobby store. Its good advertising for them, and helps me with my space issues.

If this plane comes up for preorder, I will be preordering it the first day. This paint scheme is so much more awesome than a typical and common low-vis gray. Of course the F15 looks great in any color, but the IDF scheme is actually like camoflauge (sp?)

IMHO, this is the worst scheme for a first release. There is no historical significance of the IDF scheme. Why not do a Lakenheath Strike Eagle instead? At least those birds saw action. I don't get it.

i fully agree.

why do a relatively obscure scheme when the gunship grey looks so good and has some pretty recent and significant history to it.

Hopefully saner heads will prevail at JSI...although after the spot fiasco, that may be a stretch.

OK, I do agree, it was kind of odd for them to do this scheme first, or even at all.
But you can't disagree that this is like the only different looking F15. Every F15 is gray with some squadron markings on it. I searched on Google Images "F15" and on the first 21 pages, the only different colored F15 was the experimental F15 (S/MTD maybe)
I would have bought a 1:18 F15 in any color, because it is just an awesome plane. Personally, I love this paint scheme. What really would have been weird is if they did a low vis IDF F15, though I would like it, it just would be weird to do that one at all.

teamski- The IDF F15I was used quite a bit in recent years during fights with Gaza, Palestine, Lebanon, Hamas, and others that hate America and Israel.
This is not meant to be a fight, I just want to bring some things up. :)

Haven't the IDF Strike Eagles seen tons of action? If they haven't, I'm guessing they're about to:

I'm a huge IAF fan and will plunk down my hard-earned shekels for this bird in Israeli colors

BTW, I've been lurking for a while -- really appreciated the spotcat repair thread, as mine is now hanging in all its spotted glory, awaiting the make-up dab approach next weekend.

When you talk about the F-15E base model (which is what JSI has done), you've got about 3 choices: Dark Gray (Strike Eagle) Camouflage (Israeli Ra'am) and Gray (everybody else, essentially).

If JSI does decide to do a Strike Eagle, they will do well not to make the same mistakes as Dragon Models did for their 1/72 diecast SE

Wrong or lack of armament that makes a SE a SE, tinted canopy, etc?

If its a IDF camo scheme, the question from everyone will probably be if the paintjob will turn out like the Corsair/Stuka or the Tomcat?

A generic gray or dk-gray eagle would be a safer initial investment. Would an Iranian F14 sell better than the current Jolly Rogers as S1 release? I have my doubts

AGREED. However, judging by the 1st images JSI showed off the Eagle, the armnament already looks to be a vast improvement over the Dragon Models' releases.

As for an Iranian Tomcat, I don't think it will sell as well as VF-84. Squadron schemes I can see outselling or going on par with VF-84 would be VF-103 as Jolly Rogers with LANTIRN equipped Bombcats, and the Vandy 1.

Black Knights and Black Aces from their respective final cruises would be great too, because for them the model JSI made is actually accurate.

I hope JSI changes there mind and does a US F-15 and not a Israelie one. I have no issues with Israel but its just not a version I would be interested in.
