how about a 1/18 scale M551 Sheridan tank. I think they made a 1/6 scale plastic version been looking for one.

No major 1/6 manufacturer has made a Sheridan.

Hasbro made some weird junk vaguely resembling a Sheridan, but only if you are smoking nasty stuff.

Last time I saw one in action was at the NTC in 1999. Ft. Lewis has a static one up here at the museum from 2nd ACR.

Earlier this year, I suggested to Hobby Master that they release a Sheridan. I included photos and technical data for the Sheridan and the last unit to operate the Sheridan , the 82nd Airborne Division, in Desert Storm. The photos had both the desert and NATO paint schemes.

I don't know if Hobby Master will actually release one, but if they do, it would probably be in 1/72, which is very small. But a small Sheridan is better than no Sheridan at all. The minus against a Hobby Master Sheridan is that it was only used by the US--which limits the number of repaints possible.

There's always the old Micro Machines one, at around 1:144.

Like you said, a small Sheridan IS better than none. :p

TA-152:

I have the following Hobby Master tanks:
1. 1/72--M24 Chaffe and M46 Patton (the M46 is very detailed for its size, but 1/72 is too small)
2. 1/56 M1 Abrams--tan and NATO paint (both Abrams tanks are very detailed. The NATO paint Abrams is beautiful and my favorite Hobby Master tank, but the desert paint Abrams allows more detail to be seen)
3. 1/48 King Tiger-Peiper (nice tank, but behind the Abrams in terms of detail).

Hobby Master just released a repaint of a 1/48 Sherman, but all their entirely new tanks appear to be 1/72. If Hobby Master does release a Sheridan, I hope it's in 1/48.

I don't bother with smaller scales, though i think the option is a great one to have. The variety will always be superior to 1:18.

I have the FOV 1/16 Tiger I-Wittman and Sherman and a number of 1/18 tanks (M48 Patton, M1 Abrams, Tiger I, Sherman, Panther, etc.). I would like very much to see a 1/18 Sheridan, but I don't expect JSI will release one---and Hobby Master is the only company I know that actually listens to collector suggestions. Unfortunately, Hobby Master prefers smaller scales.

I'm one of a few of the mind that we're not gonna get any new armor from JSI at all.

Are you sure you saw any vehicle dropped out of a "gunship"? The big guns carried by a gunship take up alot of room. Chain guns, Vulcan guns, 40mm, 105mm guns take up alot of room.

Every cargo C-130 is not a "gunship", most are unarmed.

I think he simply mixed up the AC-130 and the Regular C-130.

No way in hell you could airlift a Sheridan in an AC.

Yep, the 82nd Airborne Division still had them when I arrived to my unit but they turned them in shortly after and I never had a chance to see them in action

my bad i did get them mixed up. thanks for the clarification. they both are cool aircrafts though.

Well this topic may be old, but I'd love to have a Sheridan in 1:18. I was in the 82d Airborne Division (A Co. 1-504) from '88 to '92, and saw the Sheridan in action in Panama and Desert Storm. Man, it would be nice to add to my collection and round out my particular era alongside my FOV Bradley and Abrams. Plus, that would bring back some memories! I might even get a little misty...

Actually, my favorite tank in the Vietnam war mod for Battlefield 1942 was the Sheridan, especially on the Khe Sanh map. The way the M551 got modeled it kind of hugged the ground like a big spider, so I was able to sort of hang off the side of the hill on this narrow pass in and out of the enemy base, I was just above their tanks' max elevation within the narrow confines but I could shoot nearly straight down into their engine decks. It was so easy and so stupid that eventually the other team would get smart and send choppers over the hill to blast me, but I would just scoot backwards up under the trees, then rinse and repeat until someone finally got past me. So much rage.
