I think that is an extraordinarily good idea. I wrote on another thread (I think the Skyworks "holy grail thread) that the small manufacturers should consider exploring lots of different options for how their products can be sold -- selling completely unassembled, unpainted kits, partially painted, unassembled kits, kits without cockpit or landing gear details (that could be added later), etc. The idea of selling ordinance separately is a step in the right direction!mkxiv wrote:At this point no legit price estimates yet. One thing I have considered is offering a kit of the basic airframe with out ordinance. We would offer ordinance as a separate purchase to keep the airframe kit cost down. What do you guy think?
Let me add that on the unassembled but painted or partially painted idea, teaming up with the guys here on the forum who do such good paint work would be a good idea -- in other words, maybe you could offer a deal where the product is sold to one of the good painters and the ultimate buyer acquires it from the painter.
I would like that option as my Thunderbirds F-100 will not need anything like that.mkxiv wrote:At this point no legit price estimates yet. COOL !
SUPER COOL !
Can you display it beside another bird (like the TOMCAT or P 51 ) to have a better representtaion of its size ?
This model is really eagerly awaited !
The idea os separate ordinance is cool ( i've discuted it a long time ago with a great memeber of this forum : MIG29K. He has done some super weapons for its F18 HORNET)
I plan to contact some pro modellers (mainly they do 1/48 or 1/32 models ) to try the big scale !
There is a model shop near my place with incredible exhibitions and i've picked up a phone number of one of the best ! i will keep you informed about the results & costs !

F 100
LANDING GEAR : i was thinking of an operative landing gear with 2 position :
landing : just like the 1/32 BBI PHANTOM a metal or strong landing gear inserted in the wing
InFlight : this landing gear should be "storable" inside the model (large fuselage "secret box" and only the wheels cover are operatives ....
THis solution will fix all the problems like the tomcat....

Well, something else to take our mind off of the now defunct Passion Wagon (I was one of those who was going to add to my already extensive 1/18th P51 collection)...
I'm not a modeler, so I will have to have this one prebuilt, either by the manufacturer or an "aftermarket" assembler. It will all depend on the ultimate finished cost for me - I don't have unlimited funds, but if I like it enough I will try and find a way to get it.
By the way, I keep reading about the high price point, but have never seen what this supposed price might be...Any ideas?
Also, to help keep cost down, I could care less about retractable landing gear - Offer "optional position" and I'm fine with that.
Hope this isn't another Holy Grail "quest"!
