F-14 to ship next week

Post by dragon53 » Mon Nov 23, 2009 8:41 am

I got an email today from my JSI F-14 dealer which said, "These are arriving this week and will ship early next week directly from the importer to expedite delivery."

Dragon, is your message from Aikens? If so, I've not gotten one from them yet, but will email them just to make sure...

No, the email was from diecastairplane. I ordered another F-14 from Aikensairplanes, but I haven't heard from them.

OK, that makes sense. A response I got from them a couple weeks ago indicated that if we preordered one from them, they will email us when the planes are in stock. They confirmed I was on their list, so I think everything is OK for the moment 8)

I know I may be coming across as a nervous wreck about this, but this is my first time ordering from aikens (I've usually gone through Badcat on such items) and they do things just a little differently than what I am used to. It seems like it will work out, though

I would'nt worry too much about Aikens, I've ordered from them in the past and the service was good.

Last Christmas I was looking for a Franklin Mint PBY Catalina. My wife searched high and low for it and couldn’t find one. They were bran new and all the little e-tailer stores were sold out. Finally someone mentioned to her Aikens and she gave them a call. He said he was out but he would check just incase. He came back and told here he had one left. They wrapped it up that day and sent it out. I can’t say enough about that place.

I have over 20 models I bought from Aikens. I can't imagine better service anywhere. Sally is always so nice, and she really takes the time to answer my questions.

Nothing but good things to say about Aikens. :D

On another note I received an email from aviatornut and he estimated 12/5 as his ship date on the F14 iirc.

They said if they did the Flanker that it would be about the same timetable as the F-14, Q3-Q4 of 2010.

They would come out at the same general time frame as the Tomcat this year, only next year.

Just worry about the F-14 The Flanker is a ways off.

I can live with one big jet per year - that way I can save up for it

The F-14 will certainly take up space and I'm not sure whether I should get the Flanker if it becomes a reality... Then again, my F-14 is going to need something else to shoot down besides my BBI Zero :P

Got an e-mail late today from Aikens asking me to call next week and verify my shipping address and CC information! Whoo-Hoo!

I've always enjoyed the combination of history and collecting. Started gather the "crew" of 1/6th scale figures years ago just before I retired from the Army. Then when 1/18th scale aircarft started showing up, I started colelcting them as well. By combining (for display) the aircraft with larger scale pilots and crew, I've gotten alot of inquiries about the history, the planes, and the people. I have had this DML F-14 pilot (Jolly Rogerrs of coarse) for a couple of years and look forward to an attractive display of him and the JSI Tomcat. Yes....I bit the bullet and ordered one...can't wait till it shows at the door!!!
