SSHQ #1 for Badcat
From Badcat's blog:
" SSHQ Tops BCAT Message Board Clients
Yahoo Analytics reports the Small Scale Headquarters was the largest message board contributor to our store's sales so far in 2009. According to Yahoo!, this board provided .04%, read as four one-hundreths of one percent of total sales, finishing just behind Google-Brazil with .06%. Surprisingly, next in line for the boards was RCuniverse with .01%. No other message/discussion board showed-up in the final results.
I'm a stats guy and occasionally find numbers and summaries interesting.
What does this mean, if anything? . . "

It means that Badcat needs to give us SSHQ a member's discount on all sales. What do you say Matt?dragon53 wrote:From Badcat's blog:

It's not surprising to me or anyone who is a big fan of 1/16 scale RC armor. The 1/16 crowd are relatively consistent buyers of 1/18 static models as accompaniments for their 1/16 RC tanks, especially for outdoor dioramas, RC battle groups, and that sort of thing. Much of the XD scale stuff I've sold in the past 6 months or so has been to 1/16 RC armor enthusiasts, and as the popularity of the RC tank hobby grows, I think the trend of buying 1/18 static models to compliment the 1/16 RC will grow too.Surprisingly, next in line for the boards was RCuniverse with .01%. No other message/discussion board showed-up in the final results.

Re: SSHQ #1 for Badcat
Sorry, but .04 % would hardly seem justifiable to cut a special deal for if I was a business owner. How do they know that kind of thing anyhow? It's not like when I buy from them I'm doing anything to identify myself as being connected to this board. Maybe from surveys they send out?Razor17019 wrote:It means that Badcat needs to give us SSHQ a member's discount on all sales. What do you say Matt?dragon53 wrote:From Badcat's blog:

They used to be a sponsor advertiser on the boards here, but after they pulled some things I didn't agree with and tried to throw their weight around trying to control and 'filter' certain aspects of the board and the users based on what they were saying or advertising, and I wouldn't have it and told them as such. They pulled out from sponsoring the board (which mind you they were seriously taking advantage of me with what they were sponsoring with), and I decided I didn't want anything to really do with them. I haven't blocked their ad from appear on the google ads as I don't want to block a vital pathway for you all to get to BadCat's site (many of you do like them).

Good for you,P-51 Admin.
Forums need to be about the individual collector.Everyone has a voice.
I have no problem with manufacturers/dealers being on any forum. As long as they contribute in a positive way,and do not push their own agenda.
Clearly,a manufacturer pushing its weight around is not desirable here.
So far,so good.

And this is why I worry sometimes about retailers having a closer relationship with the manufacturers than the fans do. We've all seen what some retailers have said would be the best aircraft subjects to produce in 1/18 scale are.
Go Ugly Early in 1/18!!
Still waiting and wishing for a 1/18 A-10 Warthog.

I agree with what Birddog said, and P-51's decision.

Don't worry. Somehow, I don't think we'll see the Piper Cub anytime soon... Unless it's a Bad Cat exclusive!
I mean, these are the same people who were saying 1/18 scale military collectibles were "dead as doornail" (their words) around this time last year. Now they insist all the Tomcats are already sold out on pre-order (but they are so generous they'll still let you preorder yours now for some reason).
I think they stopped making sense a long time ago.

I thought it was a backhanded 'slap' at the board. They want to know what the stats mean? It means that people who read this board and as such are very well informed about the hobby industry and alternative retailers, mostly choose to avoid Badcat. If Badcat are such stat gurus then I find it surprising they can't understand what they mean and have to ask.

Yup, some of us may choose to buy from them, just like some of us may or may not choose to buy from Skyworks.
Word of mouth (or forums) can help or hinder sales of Badcat or anyone else, depending on how people here who are respected are treated.
A powerful thing SSHQ can be.
