POST ALL JSE F-14 QUESTIONS AND DISCUSSION HERE

Post by dragon53 » Fri Aug 14, 2009 8:34 am

Aikensairplanes.com has the JSI F-14 for $209.95 plus FREE SHIPPING for a LIMITED time only. I talked to Sally at Aikensairplanes.com, and she said they ordered a lot of the F-14s, but the free shipping is for a limited time.

Their toll-free number is 877-224-5367.

Well, thats sure and interesting bit of info there, they have the most expensive prices on 21st stuff around, after 21sts demise was official, there prices went through the roof- not just a little- alot!!!!! I got a yellow 7 from 'em at around 90.00 something total- the gossip here starts about them being hard to find, the next thing you know, aikens edged up to 200.00 pretty quick

I guess thats the American way, though.

But, 209.00 and no freight probably cancels out the previous bs

wow.....there site is a dog's breakfast. I can't find anything on it. Can't find the details of the free shipping offer, can't even find mention of the F-14. Just a jumble of teeny tiny print.

Maybe there should be a new thread for F-14 deals: :D

Boomingisland is offering the F-14 for $185, preorders start on Sept 1, 2009, first come first serve. They are in California, but even with the sales tax it's a great deal.

interesting to see the deals starting. That's a very good price, relative to the others we've seen. They have the shipping weight pegged at 13 pounds. Box dimensions are the same aviatornut posted.

I wonder if they are charging a lot for shipping?

I can't say enough good things about Aiken's airplanes. I have purchased a bunch of models from them, and they ship really fast. Sally is always willing to help, and she send free candy with each order. :D
Fred, really looking forward to the JSI 1/18th scale Grumman F-14 Tomcat.

free candy....lol.

well i suspect there will be lots of people cancelling preorders after seeing these 2 deals. Amounts to $40 in savings or maybe more for some people. That'll buy lots o' candy.

If you register and start a pre-order, you can get a shipping estimate. For me, it was what I'd expect for that shipping weight for UPS, so I don't think the venfor is padding the shipping (at least at this point in time).

This is good information. I've placed an order with aikens - you call in and they put your name and contact info down for the F-14 at the reduced prices and will aparently contact you when they come in. I've not cancelled my existing preorder yet, but unless these things show up next week, that won't be a problem.

GUYS:

I called Aikens several days ago to see if the JSI F-14 was included in their free shipping offer (free shipping for orders over $40). Sally said she'd ask her her husband about it. So I called back this morning and she said the free shipping was included, but only for a limited time. I placed a pre-order and canceled my pre-order with another dealer.
I told Sally I thought she would be getting a lot of calls from SSHQ posters.

Is Aikens charging up front on their pre-orders or only when it arrives?

Yes, these are excellent deals 8) If my Hobbytown store does get in the F-14 (still haven't confirmed if they will), it will most likely still be at the regular $219 price, meaning that I would save with Aikens or just about break even with the Booming Island dealer.

well i'll keep my preorder where it is for now...presumably there will be price drops across the board with other dealers, if not i can always cancel and re-order. Can't even order at Booming til sept anyway.

If there was this much room to move on the price the other dealers should have figured this was going to happen. I mean, both Aikens and B. I. are around $40 less than Badcat et al. $30 less than others. That's a big difference. More than pays for pilot figures and still have a good chunk of change left over. (for candy!)

I thought Historic Aviation was pretty decent with 230 plus 16 shipping. Guess not. Time to make a new preorder.

At those kind of prices we're talking "loss leader" for promotional purposes.

I for one won't be following, will just reduce orders with the manufacturer. Not interested in investing in no-profit ventures.

World War II attic has the JSI F-14 for a preorder special of $199.95. All canadians may want to look into this as their shipping is probably less than USPS to your local....plus it's good to support a home grown etailer. You preorder by email when you click on the 'preorder here' link.
