Sweeeet! thanks for the heads up.

That is good news now that we have a more defined release date and price. It is a high price, but not as high as it could have been... Now the question is whether I buy one online or wait and see if they show up at my local Hobbytown USA store. I would potentially save $30 in shipping

In California, this beast will cost ~$268 (incl. shipping and tax). This is a grown man's game now.

BTW, it's confirmed as the Jolly Roger scheme.

That is great that this will be the Jolly Roger scheme and hopefully it will be the iconic high-vis version, though either would be fine. Part of me would like to set up a "Final Countdown" diorama with the F-14 chasing my BBI Zero

Just called in my preorder at BCA, which I will keep until I can confirm that my local Hobbytown will be getting in the F-14. If that stoe is and if they will hold one for me, I can save some $$. The Hobbytown guy that handles the small-scale military items only comes in on Monday and Tuesday.

October 9 is practically around the corner 8)

it is always nice to see a company propose something ambitious and then actually go through with it. While JSI was probably working on the F-14 long before most of us knew the company, they seem to be putting this plane on the market rather quickly, at least based on our past experiences (the 21c Avenger and all the other proposed-but-not-produced mega planes come to mind). While anything can happen in the next two months, the F-14 looks to be a reality 8)

Now lets just hope it doesn't have near the QC issues that the large and complex 21c planes had

Distributor has no pictures of the scheme yet which is why we still have the prototype and concept photos on the site. Of course will update and soon as that stuff is available.

Interesting that Military Toy Shop, who was I believe the first to post the F-14 pre-order, has not weighed in with their price yet.

Furloughed as I am, $200 still sounds reasonable ... I'll be ordering one.

T-Man, you do know where BadCat is located right? You could probably drive there and save the money on shipping. They used to offer more in the way of on-site retail, but I never got around to going before they moved. Just an idea, but let me know if you go, IO might want to tag along...

Yeah, they moved into the barn on Rob's ranch. They shut off the going to the door for pickup when they did that.

Sweet news!!!

I think this is a great price for a large 1/18 scale jet. If the F-14 does well, and I'm sure it will, hopefully it will open the door for more modern jets in 1/18 we've all wanted. Besides the Su-27, the F-14 has to be the largest modern jet and definitely the most complex in comparison to others to produce. Many other modern jets would be easy to manufacture by comparison and maybe even sell at a lower pricepoint.

:D :D
Go Ugly Early in 1/18!!

Still waiting and wishing for a 1/18 A-10 Warthog.

it will probably be 'limited' in that production numbers will be lower. At least that's the justification for the higher pricetag. However, i'm sure if it sells out there will be subsequent production runs, probably for years to come. This could well end up being the modern equivelant of the P-51.

My guess is that it is limited in terms of the paint scheme. If the F-14 VF-84 paint scheme is successful, there will be different Navy squadron paint schemes later. The same may be true for the Israeli F-15I, too---if it's successful, there may be a USAF F-15E repaint later on.

Look at how successful Century Wings has been with its numerous repaints of its 1/72 F-14.
