I think I am going to use some undeveloped fujifilm and cut it out for the displays I used to do this with my models back in the day..works great and has the same look as the real cathode ray displays

maybe the master pickle could do a cockpit upgrade kit should not be to hard...to do most of the stuff is there.

also it would nice to have the Pratt & Whitney TF30-P-414 with the exhaust in the open position or maybe a TF30-P-414A.

this could be a great custom project that would not required to much work///all we need is the Pickle to work his magik

there should not be that much of a gap between the cockpit shroud and the front windscreen. Also its not that bad. Just an observation.

Questions to ask Tony over at merit

Are the air intake re-stricter plates adjustable?
Is there a functioning speed brake on the bottom?
all tomcats had 2 above and on the Underside of the "beaver tail.

Are there any more design changes that JSi is doing at the last min
for the F-14?

Also remind them that if they do get pilots for the F-14 they need to have naval HGU-33 flight helmets.

My overall impression of the F-14:

1. It's big, but it wasn't as big as I thought it would be. I'm not saying it's underscaled, but after hearing all the talk about how a 1/18th F-14 would be so big...I was expecting something gigantic. Instead, it's sufficiently large, without being too cumbersome.

2. The detailing is about equal to the best 21st and BBI had to offer. Sure there is some errors, but I don't want pass judgement yet since this is clearly just a prototype.

3. The variable wing design works quite well. Although, we might have a problem with it getting too loose with constant movement, but I don't know for sure.

4. The plastic they have used feels more like what 21st used on their planes, instead of what BBI used on their F-18 and F-16. And finally, no floppy stabilizers on the missiles! :)

5. BTW, the booth isn't JSI, but Merit International. The lady said it will be available in October 2009.

I'm going back to their booth tomorrow, and try to take more detailed pics, if you guys want. I hope the lady is there. She let me fondle the F-14...the three other dudes manning the booth were stricter. lol

btw they were also selling the JSI Tiger there. Best camo scheme ever for the 21st XD Tiger mold ever.

GOOGLYDOOGLY:

Thanks for the update.

Three more questions:
1. Will it include pilots or will JSI make optional pilots?
2. Is the paint scheme VF-84 Jolly Rogers low-visibility?
3. What are the chances of an 1/18 F-22 Raptor and when?

Thanks again for the detailed info.

Beautiful model, thanks for the updates. I still can't believe the F-14 is retired. Sure wish I would have taken more video of them at airshows.. :(
Fred, really looking forward to the JSI 1/18th scale Grumman F-14 Tomcat.

The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it, as long as you really believe 100 percent.
