No, but I will be purchasing the exclusive Doctor Who figures which will be released online sometime after the event.Black_Dragon_One wrote:any one going and is mert going to show any new f14 shot?
One of my best buds who builds all the displays for Hasbro is setting up right now. Look for a very cool Clone Wars diorama (he made it).
check out his website.

You might be able to volunteer and work a shift or two to get in, but you can not walk up and just check out the booths.P47faninchicago wrote:the website says the memberships are sold out. Anyone know if you can check out the booths without being a member?
Admission (memberships) sold out months ago (perhaps as long ago as April). And you will probably not find scalpers outside selling badges. I went last year and signed up late ... so I only got a Sunday pass.
That said, when I was there on Saturday I went to the Midway instead. It was a blast!

It's an increasingly difficult event to get invovled with. It's disappointing. They're discussing moving it, and rightly so. SD isn't capable of supporting it any longer.

The F-14 IS HERE!!! Oh my goodness so so much to write... I had a LONG discussion with the guys at the booth!
F-14 UPDATE ----------------------
They had the same prototype as the weekend of heros (I think?) show. Man is this F-14 BIG, and I mean HUGE HUGE big.
LANDING GEAR - So, I got to see the landing gear, and they had a special version of what it will look like since the prototype's gear is broken. They have SPRING suspension and do indeed retract into the aircraft, and have locking pieces that make sure they don't collapse when extended. It looks amazing, especially the spring suspension!!!
RADAR DISH - That's right, the nose flips up to reveal the radar dome!!
COCKPIT - So amazingly detailed, it's really awesome to see. NO removable ejector seats, though they said in all future models it'll be there.
SPEED BRAKE - The speed brake flap near the tail flips up, but the design isn't finalized yet so it doesn't stay up at the moment.
OPENING PANELS - Yup, certain panels on the right side flip down, and when they are flipped up you can barely even tell they are there. The main guy I spoke to said he didn't even realized they opened till he tilted the plane and they flipped open!
RELEASE DATE - He is thinking October this year. He seemed pretty sure. The SU-27 and F-15 are next year, late. SU-27 will be first.
LITTLE DETAILS - Even the pitot tubes are there, and in perfect detail! The aircraft is amazing with detail, even in all grey scheme!!
PRICE - He's thinking about $230 or around that.
PAINT SCHEME - He had just seen the finished paint scheme and said it looked amazing, and WILL have BBI's style signature weathering!!
BAD NEWS - No rudder, Aileron, or flap movement. But the wings do move.
F-22 - They're pushing for an F-22 to go with the SU-27...
------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------
JSI PACKAGING
So, they had the P-38 and Corsair JSI redone 21st aircraft there in final packaging, and they have REALLY listened to the customers. Gone are the flimsy thin cardboard and windows... to a degree. There's a FULL flap that covers the entire window (two sides of the box) and reenforces the cardboard around it... and you can lift it up to see the window, even 'lock' the flap into place so vendors can display the aircraft in this neat display. It's really cool to see this new packaging, and I'll get some photos tomorrow of it. The guy I talked to said this new 'flap' should remove most shipping damage problems.
The packaging looks very 21st ish, but more like TKO's style of packaging with clouds and blue skies with the aircraft flying. It's simple, but effective.
So that's my report for now. Photos when I can get a chance!!

Awesome news!! The F-14 sounds amazing and it will be awesome to see what the F-15 and SU-27 look like. I don't think $230 is that bad for this bird either.
The F-22 sounds nice, but what the heck about an A-10 in 1/18?
Did you ask them about pushing or the possibilities of an A-10 in 1/18???

Go Ugly Early in 1/18!!
Still waiting and wishing for a 1/18 A-10 Warthog.

Under 6 minutes
Speaking of cool, the Doctor Who exclusives sold out in under 6 minutes at WhoNa.com...Airacobra wrote:You must be the coolest guy on your block.
did he say what the S1 paint scheme will be?
Sounds very promising now, and perhaps worth the price tag. I still have weight concerns, however.
Did the BBI weathering comment imply that they are part of BBI?....cause if so i know for a fact they have molds for a Hind and prototypes of a B-17 and C-47.

Still hoping to get one. But as I've mentioned before...shipping will be crucial....but reading P-51's post, I started to feel giddy like a little kid again. Something I haven't felt in a long time with this hobby.
