I purchased the S1 panther and S1 sherman at TRU. After I unboxed them I was hooked.

Short answer: P-47 Eileen

Long Answer: I NEVER went into a Target or TRU or a Walmart back in the Golden Age. But I did go into hobby shops -- to buy kits and materials for the model-building I was into back then, 1/25 cars. I remember that I saw a FEW 1/18 planes back then in hobby shops. They seemed out of place -- the hobby shop was a place for KITS, and these were already built and painted. Plus, they came with action figures and you could see some joints and screws. So ... they were TOYS, although I remember thinking -- "Wow, if I was a kid, I would think these were really cool."

Time passed, and I got into a WWII flight simulator -- IL 2 Sturmovik (and its many improvements and user-created addons). My favorite plane to fly in that sim was the later-model P-47. One day, early in 2009, surfing the web about WWII planes (as I do a LOT), I came across some reference to the 21st bubbletop. Something clicked and I HAD to have one. Before long, surfing a little told me I'd missed the chance to get one cheap, and I ended up buying one NIB from Bad Cat for what seemed like a LOT of money -- I don't recall exactly, but it was between $150 and $200.

When it came, and I got it out of the box, I was REALLY impressed. I hung it in my mancave where I could see it from my desk. And it did something terrible to me. Three years later, I have ceilings in two rooms hung thick with planes, and every flat surface in my office and library covered with planes, armor, vehicles, figures, kits-and-customs-in-progress, and a kit of my own design in process.

I look up at Eileen and ask -- "What did you DO to me???!!!!????"

I went to TRU looking for a gift for my nephew and I spotted the Sherman and bought it. Looked on Ebay and saw there was a Panther out so I went back to TRU and bought it. I didn't buy the series 1 planes till later.

I think I bought a Stuka at ToyRus back in 2001 and was hooked ever since. I remember the good ol' days of stopping at every ToysRus and walmart i could find during my road trips. Those were the days ;-)

Well, it all started with the Avenger torpedo bomber for me... with which I instantly fell in love with :D
We still need more new 1/18 aircraft!

My first 1/18 was the 21st Eastern front Tiger followed by the 21st Pak40 Hanomag. I now have a room with airplanes hanging in every possible place and sitting on shelves, lots of armour, soldiers, accessories and dios - I'm hopelessly addicted. When I first started I thought maybe 2 or 3 models would be it but its now obvious that with me and 1/18 its just not possible to stop there.

The JU-87B Stuka, Desert version was my very first piece, a neighbor had got a 109 from a friend and after I had seen that, I knew I had to have one.

So thats how my collecting started, I have made a vow that the Stuka will be the last to go, if I ever sell my collection.

the first thing I got was back in the winter of 2007. I was patrolling Wal-Mart for GI Joe and Star Wars stuff when I happened upon the coolest thing ever. 1/18 scale WWII soldiers. The first one I bought was the Battle of the Bulge German Private with a trench coat and armed with an STG 44 for five bucks.

In the following months I got William Defoe from Platoon (Gods speed spider-man!) and a German Sergent who had a darker skin tone than out president.
