1/18 Huey Sagami Mount Taking New Orders Now.

Post by pickelhaube » Mon May 11, 2009 7:17 pm

Here are a few starter pics. So far about an hour and a half worth of work. Not to bad :D :D :D

There are a few ways that this can be stuck to the weapons pylon.

Image.

1. I can make a hinge and you will have to drill the hard point to accept it. This will be the most scale look but but tougher on the modeler.

2.I can make it such a way that you can CA glue it to the hard point. This would be easy to do but once it is glued it will not come off.

3. I can make it in such a way that it will hang on the hard point. This way will be the most none scale look but will be easier for the modeler.

Which one would you guys want?

Looks good. I'm for option one. Gives the most scale and is still removable.

PH,
We may not find more pics of this particular mount. Here is some info I came across looking for another pic of this mount:
Sagami Mount. The Sagami mount was a door mount for the M60D, 7.62mm machine gun for the U.H-1B/U.H-1C "Huey". It was very similar to the M23 armament subsystem. The Sagami mount was produced at the U.S. Army Depot, Sagami, Japan. The Sagami mount saw limited production (over 1,000 units were built).

But, who cares? I think this mount will be the easiest mod to do without having to tear up the Huey.
Plus I like the look of it.

Sorry to butt in on the F-14 fun fest but here is my rendition of the Sagami mount. It swings and the horizontal brass tube will telescope.I decided to make the arms out of brass for strength.

They look close. I had to make the hinge just a little thick to make sure it would hold up.

I shot a coat of OD green on it . I will post it after the paint dries a little later to day.

OK back to the F-14 love fest.

Here is the Sagami painted OD green. It turned out yucky becauser I did not prime it. But you get the idea how it is going to look. Now I need to sand it down and do it right with primer

I still need to do the pintel.

You guys may have 3 choices for the mount.

1. 2 mounts only NO GUNS. UNPAINTED $15-$25 Est.
2. 2 mounts with PAINTED gun pictured. NO AMO CANS $20-$25 Est.
3. 2 mounts with UNPAINTED amo cans and M-60s $25-$35 Est.

Hay Razor,

I am not sure of the pintel. I may have to make my own or adapt one. I was trying to get the main mount posted so I can get back to painting Pavehawk parts.

WOW!!!

Looks good Matt. I don't mind the extra bit of thickness if it makes it more durable.

Keep up the awesome work... :D

So is there anybody else interested in this ?

I will be making moulds in the next day or so and if there is interest I will lay down this mold as well.

Let me know if there is more interst.

Then I really need to get on those flak guns.

Take a look at this pic:

On the 21stC Seal Jeep, there is an M60 mounted on the dashboard of the jeep. The mount looks like it would work well with our Sagami mount:

PH- if you think this would work, need better pics or want to see one in person - pm and let me know.

The pintel issue is solved and I did a better job on the clamp so this project is ready to produce. .

Some of the pics I have seen had 50 cals on the Sagami so I will be offering M-60 and the 50 cal as options.

So I am accepting orders now.

$35 for a set plus shipping.

Let me know.

You put a 50 on a Huey like that and you'll beat the air frame to death.

Ot looks cool, but it was brutal on the choppers.

They had em. The Squad /Sig book has a few pics of them. One pic has a ma duece on one side and the 60 on the other. That was on a Navy Huey.

Rock and roll baby

BTW the same book has Bunches of Sagamis. The Squad/ Sig said that a Sgt. Sagami made them up another source I have read says that they were made in Sagami Japan.
