What moulds could JSI have?
Well I've been gone a couple of days and return to the news of JSI! Very good news, indeed.
So what I would like to know is, what moulds actually exist? We have heard for years the kubel and jeep moulds were lost/stolen/destroyed (or maybe all three! LOL)- and there is talk the Spitfire mould is gone, too - but has that been confirmed? If so, that loss would be significant. There have been no recent P47 or Huey re-paints, I wonder if those are gone? and what is remaining?

If they have indeed taken over the Corsair & P-38 mold, the others on the list could be the P-51, Me-262's, MiG-15, Saber (maybe) P-40. It seemed to me that 21C had access to or had these molds there the last couple years and were at the same place.
Items that I highly doubt they might have would be Spitfire, P-47's, Fw-190D-9, Me-109E. As those molds would have liked to have been used the past couple years but were at a different factory, unavailable, lost, or ruined... Something was not allowing 21st to re-run them.

Yeah, I am fairly certain that the Spitfire, 47's and FW-190D-9 are lost, broken, or whatever.flayrah wrote:Well I've been gone a couple of days and return to the news of JSI! Very good news, indeed.

Re: What moulds could JSI have?
I was really hoping JSI would surprise us with some 47's and 190's. Don't get me wrong, I love Spitfires, but I really wanted a chance at the bubbletop 47's and 190's. Oh well, what can you do.tko211 wrote:Yeah, I am fairly certain that the Spitfire, 47's and FW-190D-9 are lost, broken, or whatever.flayrah wrote:Well I've been gone a couple of days and return to the news of JSI! It's a shame we can't get these older molds.
Do you think that JSI passed on some of them because they need updating?
I'm glad they got ME-262 mold. I'm still missing the single seater, and from what I've seen it's the best mold so far.
I could see someone putting out a Spitfire or Huey again. Those would be sure winners me thinks.

Wish I had the Air Cavalry Nam Huey.
I've got the Air America.
I agree this mold needs updating.
You almost have to find someone who doesn't know anything about the internet to sell you one if you want it under $100.

I wondered why we never saw another release of the Spitfire, it was a nice model.tko211 wrote:

Yup JSI could (if they're smart ) modify existing or make new molds for:
P-51 B/C Mustang
P-40 E Warhawk
Spitfire MK-etc.
Fockwulf 190 A
Huey
It's already been said by BCA that they were going to clean up some of the old molds. Why not make slightly different versions of the same aircraft.
Even if they don't have the supposably broken Spitfire mold anymore, they might have the information on how they made it the first time on the books.
It'd be a winner to do a new one anyways.

Here is what we know so far,
JSI definitely has 21st century moulds for:
Corsair
P-38
Tiger 1
They might have 21st century moulds for:
P-40
P-51
Mig-15
They don't have moulds for:
F-86 Sabre
Me-262
FW-190
P-47
Spitfire
Me-109E
So where are the other moulds???
JU-87 stuka
F-104 Starfighter
Me-109G
TBF Avenger
It has also been stated on this forum that bbi may have purchased some of 21st century's moulds as well!

Jason stated he knows JSI does not have the moulds for the F86 or Me262; I suspect Admiral bought those to prevent competition. If so, then there's a good chance bbi bought 21st's P51 and Me109 moulds, but that doesn't account for why they possibly didn't buy the Corsair.....IF this is true, then other moulds bbi could have bought to prevent competition are the Stuka and Avenger. The P40 and P47 moulds are now old, and maybe among the lost/broken/taken by extraterrestrials. But this is a lot of IFS and SUSPECTS. I really know nothing, just like Sgt Shultz.
The F4 never existed - it was just an attempt by 21st to one-up Admiral with an announcement and photo of someone elses scale model. The B-25 may have gotten to the design stage, but certainly there were no production moulds.

I certainly hope Admiral bought the ME-262 and the F-86 Sabre.
That would even things out a bit. Seems 21st was nipping at their heels at every turn.
Come about would be fair play.
An expensive way to quash the competition though.
I'm very interested in who got the Avenger. Such an excellent mold, but as was said, someone needs to fix the sagging wings.

.
about those sagging avenger wings- we've all seen a round rubber grommet with the slit around the outside, why not a several inch long type pieced along that same idea? It would be pliable enough and maybe a few millimeters wide and would fit snugly on either side of the split, would it work? I'm not looking at the underside of one of the wings right now or I would probably realize there is no hope...
