a ray of hope?

Post by Yoxford » Thu May 07, 2009 5:40 pm

Just saw this on BadCat's site...hmmmmm

Today we heard from a credible source that an undisclosed Chinese company has possession of toolings formally used by 21st Century and plans to use these to produce 1:18 tanks and aircraft under another name. July is the target month for the launch of the 1:18 P-38, F4U, and Tiger I. The schemes are still confidential but the Lightning and Corsair are reported to have been released previously. The Tiger I may be a new paint, altogether. Successful sales will be the determine whether or not there will be future aircraft and tanks produced.
The sign of a great model is that one’s eye is not drawn to any one feature, yet one can study it for hours and continually find something new.

Well better than nothing. At best some repaints. If they are successful, perhaps they might do some new releases.

Great idea, but to hell with the repaints. If they want to win, change something, even the numbers on the side would be a start.

Molds snagged at a silent Chinese auction...?

Post by c44 » Thu May 07, 2009 6:44 pm

The suspense is unbearable...I just hope that whoever picks up the ball pays attention to quality control...my biggest reservation with ordering on-line over the years (and I know this is an old gripe) is fear of a botched paint or glue job...so open letter to the new mystery owner: keep tabs on the assembly line, & don't pack 'em up before the paint is dry...! :)

More P-47's, P-38's and P40's? More of anything 21st produced in 1/18 scale again? I say bring em on. I don't care if they are repaints, I know how to run an airbrush. Who cares if the schemes may not be 100% correct, we could have an opportunity to buy P-47's and P-38's again. If this is true, it is put up or shut up time, we need to buy these things. Don't get me wrong, I'm a die-hard Admiral fan, always have been, but if I can get P-47's and P-38's (can you tell I dropped the ball on P-47's and P-38's when they were available?) for a reasonable price I'm on board. I don't care if they paint them hot pink, I'm buying them.

i'm sure the accuracy of the repaints will be fine, everyone seems to be getting them right these days.....i'm just glad to hear that

a) someone has picked up the molds, rather than them being 'lost' or destroyed.

and

b) they are coming out so soon.....rather than having to wait a couple of years to see what this new company is all about.

Maybe it's New Millenium Toys?

Anyway it is a glimmer of hope for the KT, repaint 88's, Panzer IV's etc.

ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzz.......

Repaints.... yay. I'm not getting any excitement from the news, personally. That said, it does give hope to new collectors. ;)

i have been selling 21C for 5 years and was called today by one of my distributors. he was asking alot of questions about 21C xd items. best selling plane type? how many and what types of planes and tanks ive sold the most of? what did i think demand would be ect..
so i believe its very credible! he wouldnt answer any questions other than he was still in the process of making a deal. and an announcment would be soon. i think its very positive news for the XD collectors. some of the best news in a long time.

Anyways, thanks for that bit of information. I think it lends a great deal of credibility to the original post. This could be a very interesting summer.

I hope if they release the King Tiger, they use a different paint scheme---no more "yellow" tanks.

My favorite King Tiger paint schemes:

My Wife tolerates my obsession with Warbirds because my Mom would tell her stories about how my Dad would show his friends how I could rip through his WWII aircraft id cards without hesitation when I was 3 years old. I have been into warbirds ever since I could remember. I would love another shot at 190's, 38's, and 47's.

Now that the cat is out of the bag.

My intel tells me that the Chinese Co. is buying the latest moulds. So look for new repaints in:

F-104
P-51
Corsair
Saber
Mig
P-38 possibly.

That is all for now.

Wouldn't it be ironic if BBI bought 21st's molds?
