Most of the 1/18 pickups that are available seem to either be old 30s-60s American vehicles or full size modern American trucks. I checked eBay and didn't see a single Toyota pickup. An older model Land Rover might be a good choice. Take a look at this one:

I think any Japanese truck from mid 70s to early 90s would work. But again I have never seen any in 1/18th scale. Don't know if some odd company makes any. I know you can find them in 1/25th scale, but those are mainly model kits.
Also didn't they chop the tops on cars and use them too? I thought they have something like stationwagons or whatever they were too. I haven't looked for those type vehicles around those years in 1/18th scale yet.
What is mounted in the back of that truck?
