Panzer IV Schurtzen and Kit Possibilities
Hey Guys,
I know one of our fellow board members made some side skirts way back when. I think it was Gary 38.
Does he still make them ? I made a few in the past but never sold them and shelved the project. Is there still a demand for them ? The ones I made had a few rivets on them with the panel lines and also had the first plate pigeoned toed like the original.
How much did he sell them for ? I remmember that his were lazer cut or something like that.
Also , I was hot to trot on more Panzer IV customs. My Wirble wind went over very well . But the Panzer IV's are hard to come by now.So that is why I did not continue with any more Panzer projrcts.
The Hummel is based off of a Panzer but the bottom hull is hollowed out. So I would have to modify the whole bottom hull.
This leaves the boggie wheels and tracks. So if I casts the tracks and wheels all together this is a whole new tank kit.So that would add at least another $60 to a other wise $200-$250. Making the kit $260-$ 310.
But at least you will not have to hunt down and pay for a mother tank.
Any opionions on this?

Thanks for the tip.
I ran a search and here is Gary's post.

He was offering the skurtz for $12. They are laser cut flat with panel lines. Mine will be pigeon toed as per originals rivets, panel lines AND hangers UNPAINTED for $20 . A little more expensive but a lot more detail.
Or I can do the Plain Jane for $14. I made my originals a few years before I even knew that there was a Ground Pounder web. I can also do the European shape skurtz or the front cut out style if you like so you can have 3 styles to chose from.
Fortunatley or unfortunatly and ETHECLY I do not have a copy of Gary's so you will NOT GET A COPY OF HIS. THIS ALSO MAKES ME FEEL BETTER ABOUT MYSELF
Is there interest ?
Aferguson,
Hmmm.....

Re: Skirts
No just solid pieces. The way I will make them they should be able to be snapped on the panel lines and make the indivisual panels.thehun wrote:PM sent to you Fritzkrieg,
Matthew,
Are you thinking of doing the Skirts with single panels, and battle damage, How much extra $$$$$

I am the builder
I am not sure that these will come prepainted. His stuff is custom and the custom paint jobs will not match the stock colors.
I did match the base paint to the original yellow in the Past. But I could never match the green X's.
