I have been hoping against all hope that 21st will pull it out and taking some of the reports as second hand …but I was at Mich Toy Soldier and the official news from their rep was “Yesterday 21st Century Toys declared bankruptcy." He had a ½ sheet of paper with what’s left in stock and advised them to best order what they can now, its all over.

That's disappointing news for sure, but not entirely unexpected when you think about it.... The Monkey Depot fire sale should have given us at least a clue of where 21st was headed as a company. I suppose there is always some hope they will be reincarnated in some form or other when economic conditions are favorable for it. If there is a bright side to this, the 21st stuff that is is now in the hands of collectors will likely grow in value to some extent as time goes by.

Good bye 21c. Thanks for all the fun and excitement for the past many years.

It is my hope that like a Phoenix, you will rise once again!

I had the faith . I thought that they would pull through.

I for one supported them the only way I could .To buys as much 21st as I could. I did my best to buy at least 2 of everything they made.

I am bummed.

Just 2?

I think you single-handedly prolonged their life by at least a couple years :D

21st will be missed. But give them a couple years to get their act together and they could very well be back. Or someone (ideally with a better business plan) will step in and fill their shoes.

if it were chapter 11, i'm sure that would have been mentioned. So, i think this is full blown, out of business bankruptcy.

The problem is, once they declare it, all their assets become property of their creditors. So molds etc, no longer belong to 21c. So it will be hard for them to come back. It will be starting from scratch again, although with the benefit of experience.

I guess the positive side to that is that the molds may get sold to someone who may actually use them.

If I were the treasury secretary, this would have been the first company on my list to bail out.

Official bummer!

Very sad news regarding 21c. I am not surprised in any way, though, and I knew that such a company could not keep itself afloat forever... It will be missed.

Greetings

Have to agree with Tmanthegreat, although I am sad to see them go and the stuff they made was awesome, there were too many quality control problems and other garbage that went on for them to have a successful business. Their actions and quality was inconsistent, it was either great or it was horrendous.

If they do come back I hope they realize they have to pay attention to quality control and you can't rely fully on repaints to make money and support the business. You have to offer new products, stick to deadlines and produce what consumers want.

Wow. Well, it sounds official now. It was great while it lasted. Thanks 21C.

Well poo. Not unexpected, but still sucks like a Hoover.

Expect all remaining 21st items from certain vendors and ebayers to triple in price overnight...

I will always hope that one day we'll see 21C products on the move again. They may be gone but will never be forgotten.

This news is just really disappointing and frustrating. I knew it was coming, but it still hurts. From a personal standpoint, its one thing to leave a hobby because you've grown tired of it, lost interest, or found something else, but when a hobby that you are still interested in dies out from under you, well its a bit harder to deal with. :(

I know that there are still other manufacturers, but with the death of 21C, the major driving force in the hobby is gone. I'll enjoy what I have, but it's going to be tough knowing that new stuff from the other companys are going to be few and far between. And that's if the scale itself survives.

no shock I guess, and other companies will hopefully pick up some slack, or we'll at least save a little cash in the interim. I'm really hoping FOV puts out a series of German and U.S. para's right now. Good stuff from them!
