I will try to finish the standard top today. I guess it is my XD gift for Father's Day to myself .

Jnew boy asked about a top for the PAK Hanomag.

Would there be any interest in a cover for the American 1/2 track ?

Did they even have them ?

The standard tarpaulin prototype is done !!!

Standard with tall ambulance.

Standard

I need to thin out the front roll just a little around the top deck splash deflector. It looks a little thick. Other than that it is done.

They look pretty close in size ,but i can still see the difference when one is next to the other one. I have plenty of variations of the Hanomag. So i would be getting this for sure.
After seeing the pictures of the U.S. halftrack with the top,it is something worth getting too, because most of this 21st century vehicles (jeep, trucks, haftracks) all came top less.
The WC 51 truck has a very fragile roof and most people that are selling this open or (on the box) have the broken roof bracket problem.

Tarps for the American half track I can do does anybody have any good reference pics of the top ? # view drawing would be great !!

Also does anybody have any good reference pics of the radio layout for the Sdkfz 251 /3 ?

I need the layout for the large antenna racked version.

3 view drawings would be perfect !!. I also would like some good references for the power generator.

Thanks !!

Normandy,

Thanks for those links !!!

When this is ready to start , I think that I will sell this with 2 options

1. Antenna only
2. Antenna with radios/power generator.

Some may want the antenna only because all you would have to do is paint and stick. Were as the radio equipment will require some cutting and fitting to the 251 that some may feel apprehensive in doing.

The Vampire kits are very real and upon hitlers orders were used in small nighttime counter attacks allot toward the end, the russians would over run an area in the day and that night special units held in reserve would attack before the reds could dig in. It did not accomplish regaining ground but did inflict heavy casualties at times and disrupted the next days offensive plan. unknown how many were made and what all they were equipped on but I know for sure the STG44 Rifle, the Panther tank and the Sdkfz 251 were all used in combat with it.

The Vampire stuff was to be put to use during the ardennes offensive, but the trains never left the depot.

If you produce that stuff, put me down for a set. Probably a few sets of the tank mounted IR stuff.
Best,

I changed the rippels on the tarp so that they look different than the tall ambulance cover.

I am ready to take orders for the " standard " tarp cover NOW !! :D

I almost have the 3/4 version ready to show.

What I have done is taken my standard and cut it down.
Then I made a second roll to fit on top of the tarp to replicate the tarp being rolled over the top.

At first I made it smooth thinking that as a soldier would of smoothed it out as he got it out of the way.

It looked too smooth for me so I went back gave it a little thickness and a few wrinkles.

I actually got a towel rolled it and flattened it as I rolled then placed it over a pillow.

So with a couple more touch ups I should be able to post some pics of it later on today.

I know this is a tad lame without pics , but I have my bud Scott back on board ( for a little while ) and he will be painting a few covers for me.

So I will be offering ALL OF THE TARPS PAINTED !!!!!!!

I will be offering the 3 styles in new medium and faded at a cost of only $10 extra !!!

Usually I charge double the price of the items .

They look very nice completed and now you guys can get them turnkey.

Once you receive it take it out of the box and drop in on your 251 !!!

I have family obligations this weekend but I will do my best to show pics of the paint masters on Sunday.

Hopefully I will get him to help me in the shop to try and get caught up on all of my back orders.

Let me tell you they look great and what I believe to be a great price.

So the option of fully painted your choice of new medium or faded at $30 plus about $6 shipping :D :D :D

The moulds have been made for the 3/4 tarp and I have filled the orders .

They should be shipped next week.

There does not seem to be a lot of interest in it though :?

Hopefully with time this will change.
