Pudgy P-38s were up for a bit at $99. I was about to snag one when one of my coworkers came in to talk about work stuf (imagine the nerve!). By the time he walked away the Pudgy's were gone.

I got the last BH Avenger. I had to do it . Too good a deal to pass up in light of what some planes are selling for now.

Even at $14.95 a set I can't find the beauty in those IJA troops. The heads with helmets just look too bizarre to me.

My BH avenger finally showed today-I think I'm the last to get theirs out of the last batch- I gotta use a money order and different shipping adress-some of you may understand...the two prop blades contacting the plastic tray were broken off, one was in the box the other was outside in the cardboard shipping box- thank God that was all.

You know, this is the ONE reason I don't buy from MD. I have in the past, and it has little to do with service, selection, delivery, etc but it's the jacking around with prices. First something is one price, then another, one day it's gone and then it's back at a different price. Come'on, this is not placing a bet with an undetermined outcome, it's just retail sales. Just my thoughts.

I agree. Airlines jack their prices, both based on their costs and the demand.

I don't mind prices and inventory changing so frequently. If the price is right, I'll grab something. If not, no harm.

I think what MD is doing is very interesting -- it seems like they are trying to use the Internet creatively, taking advantage of the ability to control their offerings and the prices on a fine-scaled basis in response to changing conditions. As a buyer, it "hurts" that they can be so smart, but, hey, it's a business -- they're in it to make a profit!

The emergence of JSI has me hesitant to buy any more from the Monkey. Who knows what they'll come out with!

Think of it like daytrading; it is all supply, demand and timing. I have done well with XD trading on the MD exchange. The only loss I've incurred is buying some 1/32 Sherman dozer kits that later fell in price from $7.95 a share to $5.95 a share. I am sure the market will rebound and I can make up the difference later. :P

I doubt that JSI reissues of old 21c items will retail for less than many of the prices MD is blowing stuff out with.

But yeah, I understand. Will we see a $50 1:18 stuka from JSI? I hope so. :)

I don't think JSI is going to be the savior everyone thinks they are, probably more like BBI, releasing a few pieces in the beginning then releasing one every other year...
And you certainly won't get them at Monkey Depot prices..

To me, as a collector of a few toy lines, if it's retail or less it's a "deal" enough. I attend our local toy show every time it's in town, and haven't paid a dime over retail for anything from the modern SW line... It is a good rule to live by, plus patience, to be content with the money I ultimately have spent over the last 15+ years.

That applies to a place like MonkeyDepot for me too... If things fall in their "retail" cost, or less, I usually will at least consider them. If it is an Avenger or something that went from $75 or less to $200 though, I just simply pass...

There's a few items that, even at (supposed) regular retail I wouldn't buy too, but that's just my breaking point of where I feel the value is worth thep rice. The 88, the KT... Not worth what their retail supposedly was. The Monkey Depot sale prices on the 88 though? Hells yeah! Count me in for two at that price.
