New @ Target - Freedom Ops Network

Post by Sky Ray » Sun Jan 04, 2009 6:13 pm

Looks like the "Special Forces" price tags that I mentioned in the 1:18 FOV Target Finds thread are not related to G.I. Joe but definitely a new line of military toys. Didn't buy any as I had used my budget to get some One Piece figs earlier in the day. Took a lot of pictures, hope they are clear enough, I got a new digital camera and decided to test drive it today.

This can only be good for the 1/18 world.
With another manufacturer on the scene maybe it will prompt the others to release new/re-paints more regularly.
In comparison to the FOV fig's on the next peg, they look a little over scale though.
Thanks for the photos Sky Ray.

Who makes them?

scale fail! seriously, what marketing wunderkind decided to produce these in a scale that doesn't match any of the existing toy lines on the shelf. I anticipate red clearance stickers will be on these with a quickness. The website game aspect looks like a marketing data gathering tool as it says they will access your computer and can distribute your info to other third parties without violating your "privacy rights".

These are really lame :( i was hoping for better. I have to agree with CENT-ONE, red clearance stickers in no time.

Why make figures that are out of sync with all the other 1:18 "realistic" figures? It's like the McFarlane military stuff. 1:18 collectors will buy realistic, scale figures.

It is good to see other companies putting out military "toys," but really, doesn't anyone read our board?

Build quality, detailed 1:18 stuff and we'll buy it.

Oil prices are low, what's the excuse in petroleum production costs now?

Searching the Target stores in my area, I have only come across the Freedom Ops Desert Patrol Vehicle - and lots of empty shelf tags. These figures are good for our hobby in that it is not quite dead yet, but from Sky Ray's pictures, they seem to be sort of a digression in terms of quality. I was not impressed with the vehicle. Not BBI or FOV quality. I'm just fine sticking with my BBI DPV and its crew of Bravo Team figures

Thanks for the pics!
But looking at them closely, doesn't appear that they have any articulation...besides being out of the 1:18 scale...

it says Hooga Loo Toys on the box and the website also says "RHIP Toys 2008".

R.H.I.P. indeed... these get "demoted" in my book. :?

I like seeing new stuf, but......

$8.99? And they're clealry not in the ballpark of FOV, 21st, BBI, etc.

These are a notch about PTE IMO, but a huge notch below any of the above companies.

Thanks for the pics... If prices reduce I'd grab some for fodder for certain.

yeah. loved the packaging. wish i could get one fig and see how it is first.

$8.99 is kinda steep. but then again, what are those other Unimax price tag stuff? those $4.99 and $7.99 price points. are they the 1:18 scale or diff. scale?

man, look at those unsold $7.54 Joes.

Those look horrible :(

Nice packaging like many have said, but not worth the price.

I gotta admit...these guys look like the corps line. But, there is some crazy army vehicle on the website that looks interesting. I hope the DPV is scaled to the BBI one.

At 4 1/2" that makes them around 1:15th - 1:16th scale. Why not 1:18th?
RHIP Toys 2008............uh...Rest Here In Peace. Holy crap they already got this line of figures in the ground. :P

Yep, these Freedom Ops Network figs are bigger than FOVs, I tried to take a comparison picture yesterday, it didn't came out well through, but it gives a closer view:

$4.99 is the 1:32 2-pack soldiers or 2-pack tank commanders. The $7.99 is the 1:18 Bravo Team Paratroopers.
