I am sure there are many more knowledgable members here on this topic, but this is what I have noticed. As far as real production numbers - don't know for sure. First and formost if the Tender Terror P-51 (the Holy Grail in my opinion) and then the spinach 109 seemed like two of the most rare. There are also a few versions of the P-38 and the Pappy corsair. I know the Spitfires are desirable, but I don't know how rare they are compared to the ones listed above.

As for value. Right now the market on everything is on a downswing. prices have fallen compared to what AC was going for earlier this year. There are always exceptions when the rare ones hit the open market (1/18 F-18s are still strong). It is so difficult to pinpoint a solid value when you look at the on line markets, because one item may go for nearly double of the next sale of the same AC - its all timing and how badly someone wants it. If I ran into an AC collection, I would gamble and hold onto them until consumer spending starts to increase. I would think that that would be a safe bet, for I can't see the prices ever declining on the items that will never be produced again.

Sorry that there is no solid information , but I never miss an opertunity for add my $.02.

If you do a search on the board, you will see it has been discussed several times over in the last few years.

Good luck!

Well here is my two cents . Anything old is now a collectable in 21st. When the Spits and the Fw-190Ds came out after a few weeks you almost could not give them away especially the candy stripe 190 and the white spinner Spit. Here is my list of top PRODUCTION 21st AC.Not counting the Tender T. The highest prices that I have seen to now.
Spinach Me 109 $350-$$150
Haleanka P-38 $300 - $150
Samantha P. P-38 $250-$150
Pappy Boington Corsair $250 - $125
White Me-109 $250-$125
Invasion Spit $250-$125
The lowest price paid were the 104s. But they are the newest.

Armor
Early panthers Top money paid in the $200 range
Panzer IV yellow/green stripes $175-$125
Tiger $125-$80
Sherman first S1 $95-$70

John Wayne : Mine was taller

I forgot about the Helos. They are the NEW BLOOD collectables. The price of these have shot up in the last 6 months big time.

yes but rarity and number of products change as well as demand
I could do a search a read an older thread on 1:18th, but I am not so sure about the products and what is new/old etc as to trust older discussions, for all I know some things were rare and then they got dumped on the market to where you cannot sell on at cost on ebay amd everyone has 2 of em at home

Like everything else, the market for 1/18 planes and Tanks are very much up to the demands of the market. With the falling off Ebay and the economy in general, price is going to be down to sell off even highly "rare" planes.

The Terror P-51s I am positive really are the rarest of all 21C planes. (most likely the fewest made of all the 3 makers) I know the production numbers and I can tell you there are FEW! Let me put it this way, I didn't cramp my hand in the least when I signed my name to the certificates that went with the planes!

After that I would say the Spitfires. The D-Day seems to me to be the most rare. These spits have somehow really captured the interest of collectors new and old.

Blue / Black 12 was the least produced FW-190D-9 next to the German exclusive "Jutta". These planes have also somehow become in more demand these days (weird)

The Spinach Me-109E is also pretty rare for sure! not my favorite scheme AT ALL but I like having it in the collection.

From the 1:18 SSMH database there are a few 21st P-51's that were released at Comic-Con, I think tko211 is talking about. Wish I had gone to Comic-Con that year, instead of the year after. I would probably have those planes. Aarg!

There's a guy on ebay right now (unless he's sold them) who has the 21st "ambush" camo Panther tank and one of those Australian AF P-51's from BBI for $199 each "buy it now"

A little rich for my blood, but you get the idea. Any of the exclusives and limited runs are high dollar now.

The market is really "jumpy" right now. I recently sold a MIB BBI F-16 for $290 on Ebay. Then a couple days later bought a 21st Cent. Hoghead II Huey for only $78. That's the helicopter I've been looking/waiting for for a long time and didn't want to spend $200 to get. I've bid on several auctions over $100 and lost them all as people were going up into the mid $100s for them. I guess this auction just had a weird end time and was "out of the eye" of many. I was lucky to get it.

Like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're going to get.

Yeah, I was watching one of those DWK Spitfires. It's the only one I'm missing.
That's really not too bad of a price considering they've gone for more lately.
