German WWII Cargo Trucks

Assuming we are getting the Kubelwagon and German Halftracks rereleased this year, the only part of the convoy missing is a German Cargo truck. What type of trucks did they use, especially in Western Europe? I've seen that during the North Africa campaign they would steal Allied vehicles, and in Europe they would use horse-drawn carriages. But did they have any equivalents to the WC63? I'm hoping they used 1930s American trucks, so I have hopes of kitbashing one.

Many German types were used by the military. There was the Krupp 181, which was a 4x6 3/4 to 1 ton truck, there was the Opal Blitz, which was probably a 1 1/2 ton truck in the 4x4 arrangement and the Bussing Nag which was probably a close equivilant to the 2 1/2 ton truck. There were more types (Diamlers for example) also used that would bear some researching. I understand that there was a Ford truck plant in Germany that continued to produce trucks for the military through out the war. I have seen some photos of German Fords in military markings.

Can't think of a type of truck, and not knowing any designation makes a google.com image search for one tough! I know they used trucks - and also horse carts - and I can think of some from movies, but those are almost always converted US trucks and not really German.

We sure could use an XD German supply truck, however!

Most German trucks were 2x4's. That was why they liked American trucks with their 4x4. Minichamps/PMA make a 1/18 1950 German cargo truck in civilian trim. It is a later then WW11 era but looks very close to a war era truck. It is expensive though at about $285.

I can help with this. If you are looking for a counter to the WC63, I would say it is Krupp Protz GS 1-ton 4x6. It was the equivalent being a weapons carrier/artillery tractor. Here is a list of some other German truck off the top of my head with the first two being the most used like the GMC CCKW for the USA:
Opel Blitz 2, 5-32 1.5 ton 4x2
Mercedes-Benz L3000 1 ton 4x4
Opel Blitz 3, 6-6700A 1 ton 4x4
Bussing-NAG Einheits-Diesel 2.5 ton 6x6
Opel Blitz 3, 6-36S 3 ton 4x2
Mercedes-Benz LG63/L3000 3 ton 6x4
I hope that helps.

I deserve an Opel Blitz because I was good all day and finished my vegetables!
