Unimax Ages of Action and 1/18 Stryker Information

Post by Birddog » Mon Feb 25, 2008 11:43 pm

I was cruising the Joe Customs site and ran across this thread. A product development manager from Unimax/Panache Place, Inc. posted some information in regards to the Ages of Action Line and the 1/18 Bravo Team Stryker. It appears from what was posted that the 1/18 Stryker may still be a go despite the cancel of it's 1/32 counterpart. The product development manager is supposed to follow up on this.

It was also stated that the 1/18 Bravo Team line has had great success. Sounds like good news. Here's the link:

sounds like 1/32 is on its way out.....as i've long predicted. 1/18 is the way of the future!

Good to have confirmation of Bravo's success....that has GOT to mean great things for the future..

The 1:18 Stryker is not definitive at this point, at least according to that Unimax representative. It still seems likely to happen at some point in the future. Given that the Bravo Team lineup is being made exclusively for Target stores (and not subject to the opinions of the small retailers or other large store chains) that may mean a breath of life at least for the 1:18 Stryker. It probably will not be nearly as detailed as the 1:32 version would have been, but at least there's a chance of seeing one

On a related note, I'm glad to hear a Unimax company rep saying that the Bravo Team line has been successful. I've certainly bought a few of the vehicles and a horde of the figures - especially the modern ones. The figures and vehicles have sold (more or less) in my area. The Bravo Team pegs at my local Targets are more picked over than the pegs at TRU holding the 21c DAK, Vietnam, and BBI figures.

Based on one vehicle, I think this comment might be just a tad premature....
Last time I checked in almost any store there was far more 1/32 product being made available than 1/18. I would guess that modern stuff is not doing as well as WWII stuff and that is more the reason for the Stryker cancellation. When I see stuff sitting around in stores and not selling it is almost always modern stuff.

While I've pretty much stopped adding to my 1/18 collection, this is one I WILL buy if it ever comes out.

posted today...LG2 said that it looks like the 1:18th Stryker is scheduled for a 2009 release.
Hi All,

I am happy to have all your 'ears' on AGES OF ACTION, and appreciate all your interest and support.

On the question of BRAVO TEAM modern figure repaints---I will try to have answers for you, pending product development meetings overseas, in a couple weeks.

On the 1:18 Stryker---my understanding today is that it will be offered in a 2009 assortment...I know this is a ways off for you, and I've yet to confirm a release date, but it does look like this will be getting produced.

On AGES OF ACTION product development---as a collector of sorts myself and a very 'hands on' product manager who has been working closely with Osprey since Toy Fair last year, this is a very 'personal' project for me. I believe in the line and its potential for success, and, moreover, introducing the creation to the very people that will support it once its sold into retail---our valued collector/consumers.

To this end, please spread the word about this program to fellow collectors---and invite them to inquire about AGES OF ACTION here on your forums. I'll be sure to keep checking in

Best Regards,

L. Gatdula
Panache Place, Inc./Unimax Toys, Ltd.
That was in a response to having the figs in England.

He also posted...

Hi all,

For anyone interested in getting their suggestions for BRAVO TEAM & AGES OF ACTION to Unimax Toys, please email us:

[email protected]

I'll be happy to read your emails and get your most important considerations in front of
our management team. I believe it behooves us to hear you out---and see if our product
development can be effected as to deliver lines you will be even more eager to collect.

Looking forward to getting your feedback at our support address!

L.Gatdula
Panache Place, Inc./Unimax Toys, Ltd.

Hope that helps.
I'll PM him a link to this site and this thread and see if he might come here to give updates as well.

I sent an email to Panache Toys asking it to be forwarded to L. Gatdula yesterday. I recieved an email from him today stating what he posted, the 1/18 Stryker is still in the works and scheduled for a 2009 release instead of late 2008.

Also, Aferg or P51, he has also been trying to set up an account here to communicate with us about the Bravo Team Line and the Ages of Action line but has not had any luck with getting an account activated. He stated he was waiting on a follow up email with his password and all.

Can one of you help him out? I'm sure everyone here would like to throw some questions his way.. :D

Looks like good things may be on the way. Really hope they take 1/18 armor to the next level.

Don't forget about a T-72 or T-55.... :D

EDIT: Just sent P51 an email about Mr. Gatdula. Hopefully we will all hear from him in person soon.

i rec'd a response to my email suggesting a t34 and stug.....i was told it was passed on to the production manager.

So, everyone that wants to see either or both of these tanks in 1/18 send in an email. It can't hurt and it may just do some good. Takes 60 seconds to do. So do it.

But your tagline says the world needs a 1/18 Mosquito! I guess we're to assume FOV won't do 1/18 aircraft? They did do some sweet looking 1/32 and 1/48 aircraft if I remember correctly.

Anyhow, I'd agree with the Mosquito before the Stug, but what do I know? Not much my wife always says...but a T-34 would be glorious.

Got another response from Mr. Gatdula today. He told me to encourage everyone here to "lobby" for what they really want to see done. In other words, do what Aferg advised earlier in this thread: e-mail in your suggestions along with a justification as to why the subject you want to see would be successful.

Here are the email addresses to send them to:

[email protected]

[email protected] (our corporate office's email)

AND DON'T FORGET TO INCLUDE A REQUEST FOR A 1/18 T-72 or 1/18 T-55 WITH YOUR REQUEST FOR A T-34/85!!!!

Got to have something for our Abrams and M48s to shoot at.... :D

grunt, I am pretty sure this is an artist's rendering of the now cancelled 1/32 Stryker. As much as I would hope the Bravo Team future releases look this good, I am not going to hold my breath. :?
