New bbi items for 2008?

Post by C00per » Thu Jan 24, 2008 9:25 am

I don´t know if this has been discussed here before but I just saw a list with bbi items that can apparently be ordered for 2008.

It included a

1/18 Me109G
1/18 Zero Kohnoika Air Group paint scheme
1/18 Humvee with Gun Shield
1/18 Black Hawk with new paint scheme

1/32 F4F Wildcat
1/32 F104C Starfighter

and some more items. Just thought you guys may be interested in that info. For me especially the 1/18 Me109 was a surprise, I did not know they were going to release that item!

Greetings

COOPER:

Thanks for the info. I'm surprised there's no mention of an F-4J repaint.

I'm disappointed there's no 1/32 F-15 Eagle--since no one else makes one.

Also, what other items were listed?

Well, some of the items already released in the US like the Apache with shark mouth, 2 versions of the Little Bird Heli, the known F4J Phantom, 2 different Ranger Bikes and the hellcat. Some did not show up here by now so no matter what they will release in the end I would be happy about it......... :-)

Why an ME-109G?? 21c already saturated the market with those! I'm sure the BBI one will be excellent - with even better details than the 21c version - but still... Why not simply go the original route with an FW-190A or something?

Nevertheless, I'm anxious to see pictures 8)

if true about the 109g i think it's an unwise choice. MANY other better choices since the 109g was released by 21c in numerous paint versions. Even a new 109e would have been a better choice. However, since BBI has shown a reluctance to make wwii german items i remain very skeptical about this news.

Unless they've had these projects in the works for years, why oh why do they insist on repeating each other?

I'm sure there is a very, very good reason...

The list I had in my hands also had a (very small) picture of each item. It was a hardcopy though and of course I could not keep it. Otherwise I would have posted some pics. Sorry guys. I also do not understand why some items are produced in numerous paint schemes if it is a sure bet that real new (but still popular) models would meet more demand. But well........

* Why don't these OEM's do something nobody's done yet like AT for instance ? * ... It's kind of frustrating.

Are you sure the Me-109G was 1/18th? I know Merit, the distributor of BBI is releasing a 1/24 scale 109....

P.S. I'm hoping and keeping my fingers crossed that it is 1/18th scale! :)

I agree. There's a glut of mainstream WW II planes.

I'd like to see some 1/32 jets---there's NOT a glut of them. (F-15, F-14, F-22)

That is great news about the Wildcat, I know it is 32nd scale but it's a Wildcat! :D

109g would be good - I mean they put a mustang into an already saturated market and it worked for them - those two planes are the repaint money maker for both companies and can help each company stay in the market together -

Noone likes the FRICKIN' SWEET news of the 1:32 F-104??? I LOVE F-104s, and I will probably get every one. (Whenever BBI decides it should crank out paintschemes faster) Still waiting on a new F-4 to hold my bolts..

Hope you don't mind a newbie jumping in.
In addition to the camo Zero coming out, is this not in fact a new 1/18 paint scheme on the Zero from BBI at the HK fair?

42 that sounds just like what my mother-in-law calls me.

Thanks. I have really enjoyed reading everyones post for a couple years now and just never sounded off till now. While my heart lies with 1/18, I would love to see BBI concentrate on new aircraft while at the same time pump out lots of F-4 repaints. The Phantom is too nice of a warbird not to capitalize on the vast array of schemes. JMO

Agreed and Agreed.

As long as we get some new bbi figs - preferably WWII (Brits, Ruskies, cough...) - I will be a happy camper and they can release another Corsair...
