next toy fair?

Post by dragon53 » Thu Jan 24, 2008 8:12 am

When is the next major toy fair that will provide the best look at upcoming products from BBI and 21st Century?

I'm very interested in what the 21st Century 1/18 F-4D Phantom II will look like (vs. the prototype photo shown last year) and possible repaints of BBI's F-4J.

That's what they say about every toy fair, and then something amazing shows up... last time when no one expected anything Pegasus showed up out of the blue, and annonced the V-1, Gee Bee, and Bell X-1. I'll stay optimistic.

Soooo, is anybody going to the NYC show?

This will be the first NYC show I have missed in three years, it's just too much of a ride now that I am lost in the Pinelands.. when you really don't know if you will find anything new or interesting...

So, will anybody go to give us a report?

myself i have sort of lost interest in the ny toy fair. The past few years have been rather drab and often the new and interesting items that are shown there never see production...

I have some friends going and I asked them to check out 21st Century, Admiral Toys and BBi. Any information and pics they send me I will post here.

Last year had great stuff like the new bbi figures and the 1/32 F4 - all of which are avaliable now. Hopefully Unimax shows some new Bravo Team too. Can't wait.

12 days to go. I'm thinkin' the Hasbro stuff will be of most interest this year. See the AT-TE and the upcoming Indiana Jones stuff.

I'm also thinking the 'big 3' will be pretty tame.

These shows are either great or a bomb. There is no inbetween. I've always found interesting stuff but I'm a big "Sideshow" 1/6 fan, even DML usually has some interesting 1/6 stuff and I have usually found our guys bunched together like a bunch of grapes so 1/18 and smaller reports are easy.

"Real life" interferes with my going this year. I have faith that some good stuff/info will be available this year........... but then I believe in Santa and the Eastern Bunny....

Be nice to see a 1/18 B-25 prototype or a Mosquito or Me-110 or a Judpanther or a M-19 Duster or a M-24 Chaffee or a M-18 Hellcat...... see, there I go, again ..... I'd probably have better luck writting to Santa....

It does seem that the hobby has become more competitive and that means the big 3 don't want to show their hand this early in the year. Used to be this was the show to showcase new product, but something has changed and now you see more product at the San Diego Comic Con, which I think is usually in July. Hey maybe we could start a fund to send somebody to toy fair.
Just a thought-I'd be good for $25 big ones.

If we really think about it 21st has paved the way for 1:18th. Because of them, I believe we are going to see a lot of compitition which only adds to our plastic lust. I can't wait to see what goodies 21st has to show at the toy fair. I'm counting the days now until coverage begins. The Indiana Jones line is going to be awesome for all of us as well and I think that Hasbro is banking on the popularity of the 3&3/4s line. :D

I was checking the TF website, I found AT and 21st--but I did not see Merit/bbi. BTW, 21st has a good size booth.

Dragon53:

NYC TF hasn't happened yet. I believe Quixote is talking about the TF floor plan of exhibitors published by the TF.

If an outfit like 21C is renting a big space, it usually means lots of stuff on display. The last time 21C had a big space it had 1/6 RC Stuarts, Humvee and 1/8(?) Abrams running around. The last couple of years 21C had spaces only a little bigger than AT's tiny space.

I hope 21C's big space means lots of new stuff....... or we can hope 8)

I thought Quixote511 was talking about info he saw on Nuremberg. Thanks for clarifying that.

BTW: While AT continues with a small booth, New Ray Toys has a sizable booth next to 21C, equal to or bigger than 21C. That might be veddy interesting.

Maybe 21st will be displaying their new line of 1/6 Panzer III and Stuart tanks!

Keep in mind that 21st does also have several lines beyond the military stuff, like their sports figures and RC Pimpmobiles. Need to leave room for those as well!

I've visited the 21C booth at TF for years and have never seen 21C display anything other than military toys.

Maybe they will branch out......

Last year they told me, 1/6 is dead to them. Even though they said that, their 1/6 weapons sets have sold well...... so I guess anything is possible but I believe the chances of the RC 1/6 Panzer are as good as 21C making a 1/18 U-Boat or even a 1/18 E-Boat or PT Boat or even better, a Brit MTB..
