According to the 21C rep I cornered at the Toy Fair, the third crewman is included but because of space problems, the radio man is glued in place.
Poor guy, stuck forever in place. At least, he is there,
Sure wish somebody would make those 10 plane display stands.

The Flight 19 Avenger comes with two alien figures in the cockpit between the pilot and the rear gunner.
Flight 19, of course is the group of planes that were lost in the Bermuda Triangle just after WW2.
They really look good, but after this long wait and finally seeing the plane at the Toy Fair, 21C could have put a little Godzilla in the cockpit and I'd still be glad to pull out my wallet and let the moths go free.

I'm sure glad to hear about the TBM generation III model... I hadn't wanted to be a stick in the mud (particularly as much as I am looking forward to the 21C TBM), but all the photos to this point show the wings sagging in the extended position. Great news that they've fixed this in the gen. III version!
Sure is alot of work for this aircraft! I certainly appreciate the effort by 21C to make a top-notch 'toy'. For my part, I don't mind the wait. While I think that many on this forum will end up with one or two (or more) of these, I sincerely hope it is also successful at the stores for the pre-teen boys saving up their allowances. (I remember doing that for my G.I. Joes back in the '60's )

Good news about the TBM finally entering production. Hopefully, it will be here by the summer, but I'll believe the Avenger is out when I see it. Glad it will have the 3 crewmembers (even if one happens to be fixed in place). I am hoping that we will not have to wait very long between the release of the Atlantic scheme and the Flight 19 scheme, as aliens or not, I want an example of the latter. Now to wait patiently some more...

Of all the planes made this one is the only one that want all the paint schemes they have planned so far.all look very cool I even though about having some one make me a shelf that looks like the woodenn deck of a WW2 carrier for them to sit on.any idea how wide the" deck boards ,planks or what ever they are called " would be in 1/18th scale?

Hey, I'm working on an aircraft carrier in my basement. Mine is not true to scale though. Only 20' X 4.5'. I don't plan on glueing each wooden plank down for the deck. Building the superstructure will be a job. Will look good with Avengers and Corsairs sitting on it.

carrier deck
I've been working on a carrier deck background to put my Navy planes on. I'm preparing a graphic representation in Corel Draw. I'll print it out and splice it to make an area just large enough for each plane to sit on. I'll see if I can put up an example of my design tomorrow. I'm working on a IJN deck for my Agaki Zero. I've used photographs for reference.
Here are a couple of photos that clearly show the US deck design. It was the same for all US carrier types. Before the war it was stained wood, but during the war it was stained a blue color according to the wartime ship "measures". The one photo is great because you can compare the shoe width to the board and tie-down strip widths. That photo was pre-war, probably the Lex or Saratoga.

Hope this helps,

Carrier deck
If anyone is interested, I'll start a thread on the reference forum on aircraft carrier decks. I'll post an example of what I am putting together for US carriers...still in revision process. I've started a deck for the Akagi Zero, too; but nothing to show yet.

There are also some pre-molded things for trains and/or wargames that might work.
I've got a section of wood that I was planning to use for a sailing ship deck. It's not as pristine as the pictures, but the width is about right, compared to the photos, and might better reflect a wartime deck..
It's made by Precision Products.

The stuff I have is called "Wood Floor" I bought the 1:12 scale. It's supposed to be a 3" floor, so each piece is just barely larger than a 1:18 figure's boot (I've got standing on a piece right now...
The sheets are 15" x 15" and cost $8.
The hard part might be building the tie-down strips...

I went a different way as to puttting my Corsairs on a flight deck. I have been watching eBay and many people are trying to get rid of their Hasbro Aircraft Carriers. Granted they are big, that is if you get all the pieces. Almost 7-8 feet long.
Well I acquired one main flight deck section and I have my Pappy Corsair, Checkerboarder (VMF) Corsair and the Second Series Kepford sitting on it. I also scored two bow sections with deck piece. They are just big enough to hold One Corsair on the Bow. I have one with the BBI Marines Dream and the other has the New Bunker Hill on it. Also my Brit Corsair is on a middle section of flight deck that has the angle area.
I know it is not scale, nor is of the right vintage, but, at least these aircraft are on a flight deck and not a shelf. These decks have simulated non-skid but with some sanding and painting, I may be able to simulate a wood deck of some sort. Maybe overlaying the pieces with wood used for Model Houses may work.
Yes, its not scale, but it is MY Navy.................Hell, after spending 32 years in the Navy both on surface and subs, I can do most about anything I want to now. .
Oh yes, to answer anothers post about their relatives being on the Midway, well, sadly I had the task of being on the Midway Maru (as we called her in Yokosuka) when we decommissioned the "old girl." She was a proud fighter to the end.

Atlantic Avenger pics
Here are a few pics that I took back in September at NAS Oceana. The Atlantic paint scheme looks good in person.

Cool photos
Great photos of the TBM, in early war markings! I sure is doing a great job in the photos as a sunshade !
JOC, I'd love to see photos of the aircraft carrier display, too. Sounds like fun.

Avenger Pics
Ok guys, this is my first attempt at publishing some photos I took at the "Wings Over Miami" airshow.
The pics I selected are of an Avenger being re-conditioned to flyable condition at the local museum.
www.msnusers.com/xdprojects
I was impressed by the size of this bird, and hope that the restoration project moves along fine. This pictures were taken at Tamiami Airport (TMB).
Enjoy and let me know if they were easy to view. Feedback will be appreciated.
