GUYS:

I hope you remember that 21st's 1/18 bubbletop P-47s didn't come with an antenna or gunsight. I had several opportunities to buy the 1/18 P-47 "Eileen", but passed on them and I waited until a 21st 1/32 "Eileen" became available which includes an antenna and gunsight.
Maybe the new company will correct 21st's oversight with the 1/18 P-47, but I thought I would remind you anyway.

Yeah, I passed on several P-47's because there were so many of them. Like the 190's, I figured they would always be around, bad idea. As far as the antenna and gun-sight are concerned, that wouldn't slow me down at all.

What would it take to retool the F-86 to an FJ-2 Fury? Arrester hook, longer front strut?

Got this in an email from Bad Cat:

The big, and I mean BIG, news this week is the announcement that JS Industries has acquired many 21st Century Toys' toolings and plans to produce 1:18 scale aircraft and tanks for the US market! In addition, the company also plans to release millitary toys of its own design, as well!!

They will test out the troubled 1:18 waters by banging-out the tried and true F4U Corsair "Lucybelle" and the P-38 "Pudgy V". Sales of these two popular aircraft will undoubtedly determine the future of the scale as far as this source is concerned. I am told that JSI was once the actual manufacturer employed by 21st to make their toys. If so, they should have no problem coming through with quality gear. USA distributor chores to retailers will be handled by Merit International, the folks that brought you the Catmouth F6F Hellcat.

Although I regret the crazy-panicky prices I've been paying as the news of 21C's demise drove the market to the seller side, I can at least comfort myself that I only paid stratospheric prices for a couple of the things I've gotten recently. I am sooo glad I didn't pull the trigger on a second P-38!

so JSI must be a pretty large company then since it seems they own at least one factory. BBI owns factories too and are huge.

So that's good in that they will be stable and enduring but the downside is that, like BBI, if sales aren't quick and strong the may just lose interest in 1/18 in favour of other ventures..

I know that 21c used more than one factory so it's likely that JSI doesnt have all of 21c's molds, just the ones that were produced at their facility. So it's very possible they don't have the tooling for the KT, 88, panzer IV, P-47 etc.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...
