Good news, if it pans out to be true. I will be interested to see what is offered as well as the price point.

If the P-38 is in a PTO scheme, and doesn't cost $200, I'll go for it

Well I've only got one P-38, the Samantha Peyton, so anything out of that mold will surely be different.

I'm hoping that most are different paint schemes.
They need to remember that along with the noobs, there's guys that love these planes that have been buying them for years, and want something new in the paint department.
So they need to take care of their base customers as well.

Maybe this is 21st's reincarnation under another name. A new and fresh start with repaints of anything is fine with me. :D

I'm definitely intrigued, but the prospect for NEW stuff is still up in the air... Besides maybe the KT or a repaint of the 88, both very good things if we get them.

Otherwise though, there's not much there about figures so far at all, and nothing about "new" stuff... If the Tiger-I's an interesting deco though, I'm down for it. I only ever had the 1st series and its steel counterpart.

This is a weird development though.

I would love a black P-38. Anything but silver please. This news sucks for Admiral if PH's intel is correct. It seems like they are leaning heavily on their F-86 repaints.

In my opinion, it would be foolish to reproduce anything from this list at this time except for the P-38, especially in this economic climate. I too am glad to hear that the 21st tooling is not being dumped in the ocean, but someone is about to take a bath on this if they don't time things correctly. Dumping more P-51's on the market when there are already oodles of them still floating around in the distribution and retail chain is tantamount to insanity.

My intel tells me that the Chinese Co. is buying the latest moulds. So look for new repaints in:

F-104
P-51
Corsair
Saber
Mig
P-38 possibly.

That is all for now.

P-38's and corsairs are money i sold over 100 california cuties and had 25 pre orders on the new boyington corsair before i realized 21C was not going to do it. MONEY!

Great! So all these apocalyptic prices I've been paying as a newbie will go down with the news that new product is coming onto the market! The story of my life: "Buy high, sell low ..."

Speaking of which, here's a "market" question -- does anyone have any kind of numbers on the size of the different market segments, i.e. how many hard-core collectors there are (people who spend thousands and buy almost everything), how many casual collectors, how many get units sold to people who aren't true "collectors," etc.?

If the Chinese company bought 21st's latest molds, hopefully that should include the 1/18 King Tiger.

I really hope they make the A-10 :)

I agree with Corey S on this.
There are a few repaints of the Mustang D that might be different and exiting enough to get like the 1:32 "Double Nuthin" or "Miss Bonnie" but for the most part the market is saturated with Mustangs. Same with the others.

Hope the P-38 makes it out the gate first. A night fighter would be excellent! I agree, anything but silver, but now I would pretty much buy anything at the right price in hindsight.

I wonder who if anyone bought all those 1:32 molds?

I'll have to agree with Corey on this also. The older models are where the money is right now. The P-38 is the only plane in that lineup with really high demand. A couple of new repaints below a hundred bucks and they will sell.

the conversation i had with my distributor was leaning to a P-38 and a boyington corsair. he also asked me about the Wittmann tiger I.
they want pieces that will sell well so they can continue with the 1/18 scale. so im sure they will consider the current market. thats why they are making calls to known 1/18 dealers.

Yup the Huey! Wonder who's getting that?
I've only got the Air America one.

Not to mention the Cobra!

The prices on these are even higher than the planes with maybe the P-38 running in the same ballpark figure now.

The old molds don't look as detailed as some of the newer ones, but they command a higher price.

I think it would really depend on what kind of repaints they made on some of these newer molds. That's a big guessing game for the manufacturer.

Now if they just did a poll, plus asked the e-tailers, they might get a good idea of the choicest repaints.

So what paint scheme did you discuss on the P-38 AG?

I would definitely pick up a Boyington Corsair, and a Boyington P-40 as well. I would also pick up a P-38 regardless of what paint scheme they decide to release. That being said, I think a Gabreski P-47 would absolutely kill, and then they could do a Gabreski F-86 as well.

i think a Wittman tiger would be a good choice, as long as the paint job is well done and doesn't look like it was painted by a 5 year old, like the old eastern camo tiger does.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

Airacobra,
I was just going to post how I'd love to see a Wolfpack P-47 in either Gabreski or Zemke colors. Took the words right out of my mouth

The 56th fighter group had many of the best P-47 paint schemes in my opinion, not to mention the quality of their pilots.
