Sdkfz 251 Backdate Assembly Instructions !!
I voted for the SDKFZ 251/9. The 251/9's gun is actualy from the PZIV. When they upgunned the PZ IV's they wanted to still use the short barrelled 75 because it was a good infantry support gun. So they mounted it in Halftracks, Armoured cars and the PZ III Ms. My second choice would be the 37mm "door knocker" gun. This gun was used for the platoon leaders halftrack.

actually wouldn't be too hard to do with a couple of butane pencil torches, just modify and extend the brass neck and hide the fuel cell in the 251's tanks... I picked up a stack of those torches at harbor freight last year on clearance for $1 a piece but they seem to have been packed away somewhere.kevrut wrote:Can you build a functional flame thrower? That would be cool.

For the vote, I did "other" I thought of the SDkfz 7 which most of us need to pull the 88s. I didn't realize this was about the SDkfz 251 customization. Well it isn't too hard to make the 222 style turret like I did on the dragon wagon.
I hadn't put the screen tops on it yet
That was my Dragon wagon phase I .
Soon(I hope) I will get to the Dragon wagon phase II which will be about the same as I plan on using a modified turret from off of a BBI 8 wheel assualt(modern) vehicle, I just don't remember the name of it.
It will be about the same design, 6 wheels and no tracks for faster speed.
I will also at the same time be making my SDkfz 7/1 mini AA Famo being I'm using the track off of the same SDkfz 251 that will become the second Dragon wagon. You guys should try kitbashing if you don't already do so, it's fun AND you learn how to do it. Every model I make gets better each time I make a new one

Hey Guys ,
I have so many things that I want to do and this project is one of them. For starters, I really like the looks of the command vehicle . That large aerial on top talks to me.I am not sure of doing the radio inside of it. Just the aerial on top. I would do it with mounting clips that just hang on the armor.
Opinoins ?
Also I was thinking of doing a C/D conversion. Retro changing the rear end from the single slope to the compound clam shell doors. Just cut the old off and pop mine on.
Opions ?

How about a 'C' variant command vehicle?pickelhaube wrote:Hey Guys ,

Seriously, a bolt on 'C' rear end would rescue my languishing custom project.
This is as far as I got.
It would probably light a fire under my butt to convert more than one.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it.

I started this a few month's back but kept it under wraps. A back dated 251. I was thinking of making it 2 ways doors closed static and those big crazy door hinges that function.
The closed staic doors will be way cheaper to replicate. all you would have to do is cut yours off and put mine on. The kit would come with the proper tool boxes and armor for the bonnet.
Here is the start with the rough in. Popularity will determine if this gets done.
