"Collectible" warbird display at Times Sq. TRU

Post by Snake512 » Thu Jul 12, 2007 11:33 am

At TRU in Times Sq. they've started carrying high-end collectibles (so far SW Master Replicas stuff, couple of helmets, sports memorabilia, Marvel die-cast statues, etc.), but today I saw a tall rectangular case with a bunch of warbirds and a very nice F4, all on bases, with a card that said "Collectibles coming soon!".

There were a couple P38s, P40, P51, and the aforementioned F4, in a camo paint scheme, maybe one or two others.

Some (all?) appeared to be die-cast, but regardless the detail was gorgeous, including panel lines, markings and seated pilots.

If memory serves, the largest piece was a 1:32 P51.

The bases were all chromed and had a logo on them but I didn't spend the time trying to decipher it.

Anybody else hear of this kind of stuff making its way into their TRU's?

I heard awhile back about high end 1:18 aircraft, that is priced some where around the 500 dollar mark. But that was last year,
I don’t know who the company is but I do know the where not made in Europe or the US.

Actually, it is a HPH is a Czech conpany. Here is their main site:

http://www.hph.cz/

They do a wide variety of desktop models and far more. Quite an impressive little venture (I remember when companies like this were just getting started back in the early 1990's--after 40 years under the Russians, they were bitten hard by the capitalism bug!

Any idea how much the 1:18 planes cost? I know, if ya gotta ask.........And what scale is the P-39 they have shown in the link below? If it is 1:18 scale I can honestly say I would shell out a couple two, three, hundred dollars for it.
