Anyone for adding FAC aircraft to the Vietnam mix ?

Post by wreckchaser » Fri Mar 09, 2007 5:03 am

With the news of all the Vietnam era birds that are coming ,I thought some FACs would be nice as well. Such as the O-1, O-2,and the OV-10.
It seems that there would be a good selection of paint schemes for the
O-1. Less for the O-2. The OV-10 with a few mods could also be done for
the Marines. Plus I believe that a CMH was awarded to a Air Force Bronco
Driver.

The Bronco would be cool flying on station for the Hueys and what not. Calling in a strike force or two. :D
Kirk Douglas : Mine hit the ground first
John Wayne : Mine was taller

The Bird Dog would go well with 'Nam. I'd rather have the Bronco over the Oscar Deuce. The Bronco is a neat looking bird. The Bird Dog however, I think could be used for civilian paint schemes and may push the non-military market.

how about a Cessna T-37?
tons of repaints ,,,and the best of all it you could make an A-37B which was replaced by the A-10
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Let me hear your guns!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: My what?
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Your guns! Ack, ack, ack, ack, ack!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: [fires his airplane's guns] AHHHH!

I'd wished I suggested nearly all of the above, oh that's right I did .

The A-6 has been asked for a few times also and I think this would make a great addition with it's long service from Vietnam to GW1 there would have to be a tonne (1000kg) of paint opportunities.

I'll also put my OV1 Mohawk request in here as well, while not an FAC it would be a great Army aircraft addition for this era (and later).

But as with any Grumman product there could be the ugly spectre of licensing issues.

Yes, I've often thought that an AT-37 would be an fairly simple plane to make in 1:18, and a great addition to a Viet Nam collection.

I think both the Bronco and the Skymaster would be excellent choices. Nyet on the Bird Dog however...it just doesn't light my fire.

O-2 for me.

It's a cool looking plane to me.

A Bronco and an O-1 would be cool too though..... :D
Go Ugly Early in 1/18!!

Still waiting and wishing for a 1/18 A-10 Warthog.

The Bronco has always been a cool plane and fairly desired by collectors.

I love the OV-10's! I used to live in Columbus while they were being built. Even got to visit the assembly line on a high school field trip (later production for Thailand)

The Bird Dog would be pretty small in 1:18. How about 1:6???? :D :D

The Bronco would have to be at the top of my list followed by the O-1 and the 37. I did see one O-2 that I liked several years ago painted black with red markings.
