I just thought that we do have information about this, and that we should be happy to know this much so far.

 coming right up..
I have a feeling we will know about any new figures before anyone at bbi tells us. After all, someone here HAS new figures that still have not been acknowledged. I would love to know when those are coming (even if months away) so that I can save the trouble of looking for them until then..

Every time I see pics of this Hellcat I drool all over myself  . By what the pics show it looks as though its gonna be an F6F-5 version but since its only a prototype they could change it into a -3 we shall see. Theres 2 paint schemes I hope it comes in and thats of (JG) Alex Varacius white 19 or Commander David McCampbells Minisi III. Either one for a first release will be fine by me. Since its being made by BBI I hope they put as much detail into the Hellcat as they did with their Corsair and Mustang releases.

She be mine!!!!!!! :D

They are not WWII although I am hoping WWII is in the works as well. You can see three of them here:

BBI F6F

Post by The Old Man » Sun Nov 26, 2006 2:25 pm

Question- are the photos of F6F of the actual issue by BBI ?
If so - can I puke now or wait till later.
1. The photo canopy is great - for a F4F Wildcat - the 6 has a very distictive bulge. On the plus side - they've got the canopy for a 4 so that indicates their next issue will be a 4 which is not bad.
2. The photo vertical stabilzer with rudder is rounded - the 6 is square
3. The wheels - same as F4U - so why ?
4. The last picture is of the old Monogram F6F - in 1/48.

So what's the deal? I know that 21st used a professional model of a 1/48 scale TBF to market - found the exact model in a British pubilcation. So did BBI whip up an old Mongram so people had half a idea of what a 6 looked like ? Course the big question - who's Warbird are they going to replicate for the paint - cause there ain't too many accurate Warbird 6s.

Given enough time, putty and trips to the hardware store, it might make a 6. Which is good.

Oh well - back to power sanding the 21st 51. Decided to fiberglass the wings of the 51.

Hellcat

Post by JimBob55 » Sun Nov 26, 2006 7:13 pm

Actually, it looks pretty good to me, except for the flat canopy. The rudder, slightly rounded, is correct as is. The wheels are the same as the F4U with good reason, they were the same on the original aircraft. They were manufactured to fit numerous similar-sized aircraft. I think even the Avenger had the same ones on the original. The model's windscreen is for a F6F-3, but not having a rear window is correct for a -5. The cowling could be a late -3 or -5 (no bulge over the exhaust)

I sure hope they do pick a historic paint scheme for a -5 Hellcat, instead of an airshow bird.

Even with the canopy shape, it still looks great to me. I'm looking forward to it.

Ah this is just a prototype people and not the final product I'm sure. So I think that the final version will be just fine. I very much look forward to the Hellcat as well.

I have to agree that these figs do look cool but i was hoping for more gear to come with them the WWII guys seem to come with a ton of stuff but these modern figs seem to be lacking a bit compared to them. That's not to say that i will not want a whole bunch of them when they are released. I would have thought that we would have seen something before xmas but it doesn't look like it now.
