Personally, aside from whatever is newest, I like the F-104 silver paint schem. It just looks plain awesome and a little retro. For some reason it reminds me of the movie Right Stuff. What are your thoughts?

I have seen all three, and own the silver USAF scheme and the German Marinefleiger version. My all around favorite is the silver version. When I think of the F-104, it is always in silver and this scheme with the red stripes, to me, captures the look of this classic fighter
I also really like the German scheme as it is rather interesting and the 2-tone gray combined with the orange looks striking. It's also a "G" model and has been modified accordingly. The English & German stenciling is also a plus. Although I have found a couple "Smoke II" F-104s at a local Wal Mart and like the cammo scheme, it is the most bland-looking of the F-104s and I just can't justify getting another one. Overall, the F-104 is one of 21c's best 1:18 scale planes and is a real steal at the $40 Wal Mart price

Another vote for the silver one too. It looks fast just hanging there! That same general paint scheme was seen on the F104 that chased after the Enterprise on that original Star Trek episode. There was good F104 footage and you can make out the white wings!
I also liked the German F104 but didn't buy it because there was no place to hang it. I already have more planes in the attic then I do hanging.

S4 was supposed to be a Bavarian scheme:Sabrefan wrote:Does anyone know if there will be another paint scheme released after the Smoke II version?

Another German paint scheme? Would be nice if the F104 made it in another country's paint scheme, like Italy who just retired them (I read Pakistan may have a wing still flying - how about them?)?
(Sorry, suffering from German overkill. The MiG aside, so far any jet we've seen not painted for the US is German. Just would like to see some other countries represented)

Wow, the Bavarian paint is beautifull!
Will it be done?
As for favorite schemes, I missed out on the Silver one, so I never saw it in person, I have the Luftwaffe version, so I dont really know, If 21st Century Toys will make the Bavarian scheme, that's my favorite.
