Not sure if this is the proper place to ask this or not. I won a loose F104 on eBay and the nose cone arrived broken at the front where the antenna attaches. It poked through the box and must have gotten snapped off. I have the antenna but I need a new nosecone. Is this something 21st would send me if I asked for a replacement? Or am I SOL?

These have not shown up in my area and I doubt they ever will, and even if they do I can't justify buying another whole plane just for one broken piece.

You could always contact 21c customer service and see what they say. I would assume that the nosecone would be a fairly easy piece to replace, unlike, say a propeller or a landing gear strut. Contact them and see. The information is on their website at www.21stcenturytoys.com.

You may also simply try repairing the piece. The nose cone is made of two halves that are attached, and assuming your nosecone cracked along the break between those halves, you may be able to repair it using a little superglue.

I'll try contacting CS to see what they say. The problem with repairing is the tip of the noscone broke off completely and I don't have that part. So there is a 1/4 inch or so missing from the nose, making it impossible to attach the antenna without fabricating something. I may try some sculpy and see if I can make something that looks passable if 21st can't help me out.

Two things - first if anyone can supply the WalMart stock number for the 104, I'd appreciate it.
Second, I was looking around and found this:

I found a Wally toy dept manager who told me she would try and get the F-104 for me if I could provide the numbers....but it seems the computer just shows the new XD aircraft as "assortment", and can't identify a single unit. Interestingly, she also told me the computer lists this is "non-replenishable".

This has ALWAYS been the case for XD stuff at Walmart since day 1. It's just a reminder that each paint scheme goes through the Walmart system once......

I just found an F-104 today in San Antonio and a buddy of mine found another about a week ago. Things are looking up.

replenishment??? we don'need no steenkin replenishment

Post by mikeg » Tue Dec 13, 2005 8:56 pm

a couple of local walmart toy dept managers/workers showed no interest in special ordering stuff here in atlanta; their hand held scanners only serving to identify the product and tell how many they showed to have in stock (approximately). I firmly believe that if you like the thrill of the hunt, when you see it at walmart, get it or leave it because you aren't going to see it restocked. Even bca does'nt have the latest schemes that show up on ebay and that I've seen at walmart. I've missed out on some of the 1/32nd newer plane paint schemes because i didnt want to spend the money at the time-someone else did... anything currently on the shelves has been here a month or more. There is a decent assortment of items still around, but those that want; have long since purchased...What the heck---if anyone is looking for something, let me know- it might cheer me up to help someone out...I've heard some complain their walmarts don't have any offerings at all.

Update from BCA:

UPDATE 12/15/05: S1 Silver F-104s sold out, no info on restock in sight. S3 Lufwaffe is nearly gone, please act quickly if you what this as part of your collection.

S2 Camo (Smoke II) & S4 (Bavarian) erroneously reported by us as "on the water," has been delayed. We apologize for this error. Production is slated but no word on a delivery date as of yet

I'm looking forward to Smoke II.

With reports of only one F-104 found in only a few WalMarts, I wonder if the small retailers received more, this time, than Wally? Maybe a cut back due to the excess of P-47's and 190's? - and is this is trend for future releases??

I snagged one in an out of the way Walmart and it did not come up in their system - like the sku had not been programmed in.

Has anyone found the German 104 at Wally? And has anyone seen more than ONE 104 on the shelf? There are many reports of them being out there, but it seems in very low numbers, and with them not being in the system as Razor reported, maybe these were just a few "extras"? Are these in XD boxes, Motorworks or what packaging?

Has anyone found the German 104 at Wally?

Nope
it seems in very low numbers

Yup
and with them not being in the system

I think they are part of the ole "assortment"
Are these in XD boxes,...?
Yup
I think you are right that small retailers got more (they certainly got first), but sometimes WM gets none, and vice versa. I wouldn't be surprised if the new 109G were going to WM first - you see zero pre-order info anywhere online.

I just wrote in the walmart thread about seeing an air force 104 in wm, there were none there the day before; after collecting this stuff since 2000, I tend to believe they only got a box of 4 assorted??? 104, 109g-6 sahl, black p-40 and ? there were no duplicates, only these three. Does this make sense? Has anyone seen more than 1 104 at at time? Also, someone mentioned they were told of shipments that were not to be replenished when sold out.

Nice. 8)
Raider is on this board. I wonder if those are official photos from 21st? If so I think the scheme is very nice. Someone lamented the blue & white checker but I think it's pretty cool. :P
