Re: 1:18 Kettenkrad Poll - Now with photos!
Here are some 1:32 and 54mm figures with the 1:18 Kettenkrad for comparison to the Atlantic frankenkrad.

They will be available to purchase by the end of the month. You can actually order them today, but I would advise you to wait until I:normandy wrote:Grunt, Your Kettenkrad looks great!!! When will they ready for sale?
- Get a final non-prototype sample in hand myself (should be this week)

So, do you make some money off this or does it all go to shapeways?

Re: 1:18 Kettenkrad Poll - Now with photos!
Great question. Shapeways allows you to mark up the final cost. If something sells they deduct their production costs and send the remainder, if any, to your paypal account each month. For example, I set a $14 dollar markup on the Kettenkrad. So if ten sold, they would send me $140 and after a year selling at that rate my costs would be covered.
So you guys need to buy a lot of Kettenkrads!

Re: 1:18 Kettenkrad Poll - Now with photos!
Yes! The production version came in at the proper price (what you already see online at Shapeways) and it's just as good if not better than the prototype test shot. The seat and post have been removed to be a separate part (attached to the body with a sprue) so that you can leave it out if you need to squeeze a particularly pesky figure into the drivers seat, or inserted if you have a more cooperative figure or want to go driver-less and have it look accurate.
The front end is the hold up now. When looking at putting the Notek back, I realized the forks were less than ideal in terms of accuracy and want to make them thinner. So that all needs to get done for those of you that are concerned about the details.
For those of you that are ready to go, you can go ahead and get the kit now, it's ready! If you ever want to swap the front end with the updated version, it's $10 to replace it.
The total price, based on today's Shapeways costs is $92.
$76.41 Chassis
$5.99 Front Wheel
$9.64 Front End
-------
$92.04
So about seven dollars under the $99 target price!

Re: Battleground Toys 1:18 Kettenkrad - Finished Build Pictu
I completed one just to see how it would turn out. I have a license plate but it was a touch too big so I have to fix that, and add the Notek. Other than that, what do you think?

It looks great! Is the front a direct cast of an Indy bike?

The front end is not copied from an Indy bike. If you look close it is way different.

Hey, grunt1.grunt1 wrote:They will be available to purchase by the end of the month. You can actually order them today, but I would advise you to wait until I:

Is the 'krad available at Shapeways the "final" version? In previous postings you mentioned wanting to fix the Notek, license plate and front end.
Am thinking about ordering one, but wanted to make sure it was the final version.
Thanks!

Re: Battleground Toys 1:18 Kettenkrad - Finished Build Pictu
Yes it's all fixed now with a much more accurate front end, particularly the forks and fender. The Notek is present as well. I'm waiting on the first one to arrive to make sure it looks as good as the drawing. That takes two weeks, so after that if all is well you should be good to go.
It's also a snap together kit now. The front tire "snaps" into the forks, and the forks "snap" onto the body so there is no glue or screws required.

Sweet. Looks like maybe you now have all three parts connected together into a single Shapeways model? Am looking forward to seeing the result.grunt1 wrote:Yes it's all fixed now with a much more accurate front end, particularly the forks and fender. The Notek is present as well. Very cool I need to order one of these kits myself to pull my Horten, ME-262 and all. Looks like it will be an easy build.
