Tamiya paints hard to find?

Post by flyboy_fx » Mon Nov 28, 2011 2:46 pm

Is it just me or are Tamiya spray paints harder to find? Also, their acrylics seam to be out of stock often. :( My local hobby shop has nothing. :(

Tamiya is currently relabeling ALL of the products to meet US govt standards (aka Idiot Law).

"Do not breathe in fumes"
"Do not ingest"
"Do not use near open flame."
blah.. blah.. blah...

They *should* be back on shelves at the end of the year... or that's what I have been told by their customer service.

What's the deal in the U.S.? All my hobby stores are well-stocked with the Tamiya and other paints.

Does Canada have no laws against something in the paints while you yanks do?

I've been moaning and groaning about this for months -- I started another thread about it somewhere here. Tower has started listing SOME but not all the spray lacquer rattle cans as "available in December" or something like that. The color I REALLY need is TS-3 Flat Dark Yellow -- One of the two colors that I'm using on the bigger areas of the splinter camo I'm putting on my V-2s. On that color, Tower hasn't changed their status from "Temporarily Unavailable." SO this morning, I went googling and found that Ventura Hobbies claimed to have it and ordered 10 cans. They took my money -- I hope they really have it in stock . . .

Aside from any relabeling did the earthquake have anything to do with the shortage?

Thanks for sharing your efforts. I'm in the same situation and am waiting on 3 cans from overseas but they have to go by boat apparently. Keep us posted!

Certain panzer acrylics and luftwaffe paints are always out of stock and slowing me down. Not to mention having a compressor break, thanksgiving, birthdays, schoolwork, outside work for winter... OMG, I've been BUSY! I have not hardly touched any models for like 2 months.

Also, sorry to the guys who have sent me stuff to paint. Going to get back on track ASAP and will be sure to include something extra for the delay. :D
