Re: what the f
It's a custom 251, built by Jnewboy, what's the big deal?

Do people not even check the customs section on this forum... *Facepalm*
Jnewboy, you have made some rather; Interesting pieces before. I have to say though, this is a marvelous work of art! If my money wasn't already being spent on RC stuff I would have probably bought this. This has to be the only true hanomag love of mine!

Yea, I think that its pretty certain that many don't look at that forum, not like they do this one.....
Thanks for the kind words on my Stummel
As far as the main gun goes I was able to steal a few parts from other 1/18 tanks and guns but all the rest of the parts were hand carved from sheet plastic and balsa blocks and a week or so latter...Poof! a 75mm L/24 Gun! most of the work was the controls and the MG-42 mount, if I had to do it again (which I wont, too much time involved) I would have made the gun stationary and not swivel or elevate, allot of work for a few degrees of movement...The real thing was not meant to pick off targets, It was more of a drive it towards the fortified house or whatever and when it got close enough- pull the trigger. The short rounds didn't have the velocity to penetrate armor very well and used high explosive warheads.
No fantasy, sorry.... its the predecessor to the 251 with the Pak 40 that was mass produced by 21st Cen

Re: what the f
I really appreciate it guys!
Really surprised at how many people miss the customs forum, I posted a thread on it on Sunday.
Now that this thread was started it has jumped from around 20 to almost 30 watchers!
It may be the most intricate custom I attempt for awhile, to much time involved!

Re: what the f
Great custom 251, Jnewboy. Especially the interior.
Somebody is going to be the very proud owner of this.
And I agree about the "customs section". I check in there once in a while to see some great work, but not part of my daily check. Appreciate the effort you guys put into posting there, and hope the lower traffic there doesn't stop anyone from posting. When I do check in [about once a week], always impressed with what some guys are capable of doing.

Thank you Snake, I remember back in the day when I wasn't even a member when my customs would always be all over this forum, I remember laughing so hard reading some of the posts about them, bad and good, but mostly bad
Now I have to post in the customs section....
so since my work was already being posted here with more traffic.....
and probably allot more brutally honest feedback was coming in......
remind me why the hell I became a member????

Re: what the f
Well guys, everyone is always complaining that there is nothing new here, but, jnewboy, pickelhaube, and others are always building something and offering it a price that is really reasonable, hey I missed the days of the 21st stuff, I can't spend alot at one time, but these guys will let you pay as you can, you will never get that with any large company.
We are lucky that we have any place to get customs that are reasonably priced.

Re: what the f
Wow! That thing is incredible. This version of the 251 has long been my favorite and I have always wanted one in 1/18 (think I remember seeing a prototype of it on the JSI website at one point).
I think I am going to have to break into the piggy bank and place a bid.
Great job on this...just outstanding work!!

Re: what the f
Thank you Major, please do bid as I have stated that I cannot make another or have the time to invest in another. This will be the one and only I make. Ive always built for myself and have gotten better at making my own parts from base wood and sheet plastic but unfortunately have never mastered the mold process to mass produce kits. This leaves me with prototypes only and when one builds for himself that is fine but in this case I wish I had Mathews knowledge as this seems like everyone's favorite version of the hanomag (myself included).

I've been thinking of listing my panzer IV. It costs alot but either way I will be happy, $300 or I get to keep my tank! LOL

Your Tank is awesome but the market is very bad right now. I would be surprised if you did get your $300
Besides if you want to walk away with $300 for your tank it must sell for $300 + 12% + listing fee
Paypal will rob you at a 3% rate and eBay robs you at 9%
And yes Snake, $280 sounds like allot of money but if you compute how much is taken in fees and how many hours went in to it I consider it a failure. Should have spent those hours flipping burgers and I would be farther ahead.
