Dragon 1/6 Panzer II C..if it is real, I'll get it
Re: Dragon 1/6 Panzer II C..if it is real, I'll get it
Definably not a bolt counter, and with only one other 1/6 in my collection, this seems very interesting, especially at around two hundred dollars.
Please keep us posted, if someone pulls the trigger and gets one, I may have to throw the wifes love seat out of the room to make it fit, but she'll get over it. ( just adds more lawn furniture )

If you look online at the PZII turret its pretty boring but hey bravo to DML for taking a leap here.Threetoughtrucks wrote:Today's news is that the kit price is about right at around $200, and $500 for a built model. More details as to when they will be available should be out tomorrow.
Complaints already about the detail (or lack of) on the turret. They still want it for the chassis to make other versions or customs, despite the perceived problems with the turret.
I'm still in line. Hell, we lived for years with accuracy complaints about 21C for years and still bought them by the truckload despite Wallyworld and TRU mark downs.

Really good that the posts have drifted back to the topic rather than "my ePenis is much bigger than your ePenis"
I have not done a scale model since my teen years. Having recently hit the big 40, this release has me thinking "Time to tackle a model kit again", I'm even thinking ahead to invest in an Air-gun for the paint job. Congrats to Dragon for re-igniting interest in me anyway. Being an International collector of 1/6 and the holy 1/18 (blessed be thy name), the $200 price tag (if true), plus reasonable postage puts it right in my price bracket.
I'd like to see the release to decide on the detail level, but if you see the astonishing amount of after-market bits for 1/6th vehicles, that would keep the purists very happy.

Scale of 1/6 isn't too much of a stretch from 1/18.
Here is my '251", 1/6 DID next to a 1/18:
And a few multi national 1/18 guys trying to get under way in my 1/6 WC-52:
OK, so there is a little difference. Whatever floats your boat.

WOW, TripT, I am very jealous of your 1/6 251. I do have the Armor Hobbies Sd.kfz 250 in my 1/6 collection tho'.

Cool collection~ The 1/6 Dodge truck is impressive. Too bad that I don't have room for 1/6!

That is very impressive, I get beat up about the space my collection takes now.
Who was the manufacture of the Hanomag? I don't believe I have ever seen one in 1/6.

Re: Dragon 1/6 Panzer II C..if it is real, I'll get it
The Armor Hobbies "250" is a kit and sell for around $230 and the same etailer sells the AH "250" completely assembled for $289.95. Accessories are available by the ton from a number of etailers, only limited by your imagination and your wallet. The kit is plastic and most of the accessories are resin with some metal and wood.
http://toychestandcollectibles.com/shop ... BBIES.html
The DID Sd.Kfz 251 has been sold out. It is all metal (and shipping weight is around 60 pounds) and even though the bolt counters complained about the angles of armor in the rear end, it sold out quickly. Initial prices were around $1,000 but prices varied from day one. I bought a pre-order from a etailer for around $700 drop shipped from DID. They pop up now and then on eBay but prices still vary from around $750 up to $1600. I love the vehicle but the weight of a metal vehicle limited its movement, for me anyway. Most of the time, mine sits in my toy/office/man cave wearing tread marks into the carpet. My next metal models will be RC. It will be moved next when I mount a 3.7mm gun kit on it.
My WC-52 is a custom conversion from a 21C Command Car, made by a guy, sort of like a 1/6 Pickel, who made a few of these but had problems with the resin of the rear bed and paint peeling off the resin. My has none of these problems, anyway, this guy just gave up and stopped making them. A Chinese mfg currently make a metal WC-52 but I'm not crazy about some of his hood angles.. Still, a nice model.

I just got this via email from thetoyfederation:
http://thetoyfederation.com/product.php ... at=&page=4
It seems the Dragon Panzer IIC is real and will sell for at least $499. They note that this is a Pre-order item and that a definite Ship date has not been made by Dragon.

From tmanthegreat's toyfederation link :-
"This is a Pre-order item and a definite Ship date has not been made by Dragon yet! Estimate is late December!! Please check back for updates.
The tank is built and painted and the cupola can be opened!! "
Seems the Dragon Panzer IIC will come in an as yet seen paint scheme. My guess for this early war model is Panzer Grey. I would still go for the kit though.

Re: Dragon 1/6 Panzer II C..if it is real, I'll get it
What bothers me is a comment about DML may be releasing the Pz II at the $499.99 price as a DX10 special reduced price. That means the kit price, when it comes out, will be higher than has been estimated.
I'm debating biting the bullet and getting a pre-built model. A few etailers are offering the same pre-order price. I tried yesterday to ptr-order from The Toy Federation but their financial pages are not secure pages. Kind of silly to give CC info and let that info sit in a unsecure page. That's too bad. I like TTF.
As to colors, when DID released the Sd.Kfz 251 and the Kettengrad with trailer, they offered a choice of four color schemes (gray, yellow, 3 color cammo and SS cammo). I would hope DML offers the same kind of choice.

Re: Dragon 1/6 Panzer II C..if it is real, I'll get it
They will prolly offer a completed kit for more money later because if an un-assembled kit costs more than a assembled one that just doesnt make sence. I know DML wants to make money off these but I think 300 would be my max I could afford for a model and yes I know Tamyia makes 1/16th tank kits for the same or more but judging by what I see on model galleries there arent that many out there.Threetoughtrucks wrote:What bothers me is a comment about DML may be releasing the Pz II at the $499.99 price as a DX10 special reduced price. Mitch:
Can you tell us what is your source for "under $450 shipped" and "no kits will be available" comments????
$450? that's a great price for the Pz II, including shipping. All the etailers so far seem to be sticking to $499.99 + shipping.
As to the kits, DML seems to be bringing out kits for almost everything they have released so far,,,, quad and single 20mm AA guns, Jeep, Pack 75mm, etc, etc , and just today we hear they are releasing the 37mm AT gun as a kit. If the Pz II is released as a painted full build, I feel a kit would follow, evidentially.

USMC Chet:
In your pics you show a "250" with the 2.8cm sPzB 41 AT gun but you identify the vehicle as a "250/9". Wasn't the "250/9" the vehicle with the armored roof and a 20mm and MG34 in a turret?
If I am not mistaken, your pic is a "250/11" with the 2.8 gun. I've got the mount for the 2.8cm gun on the AH 250, but have never gotten around to mounting it...... soon. The "250/9" with the turret is one of my favorites, and only rarely found as a custom in 1/6. A "250/9" is in my future, one way or another.
