All I can say is WOW!! I wonder if the production version will really have that excellent of a paint job. I noticed it too regarding the vertical tails a la F-15 style. It should be an easy fix to give them 3 degrees outward cant.

Researching through my F-14 books this particular VF-84 scheme is somewhere between 1989 and 1991. The paint scheme is dead on correct. Just an FYI all Tomcats lost their white undersides by 1979 so this all gull grey is correct for depicting 1980s F-14s along with the larger US roundel under the cockpit and the all black ventral stabs since "VF-84" is painted at the root of the vertical tails.

They have every discerning feature correct to depict a late 80's A model Tomcat including the sensors right underneath the wing glove vane and the correct infrared seeked under the nose...except they are using the gun vents found only on the B and D model and a few select very late block point modified A models used as Bombcats...specifically those of VF-154 Black Knights, VF-211 Checkmates and VF-41 Black Aces of the late 90's and 2000's.

But the incorrect gun vents should not deter anyone from desiring this beast. If it did they are being too anal and will regret not getting one when these things climb to astronomical prices on ebay one day.

There are only two things missing that I can see which is not that big of a problem but if you click on the links below you will notice a missing E above VF-84 on the tail and a red pen stripe running across the back which ends at both ventral fins. Not sure what its called or its purpose.

I'm not sure what the "E" stands for but I'm pretty sure the red line is meant to show where the turbine blades are located inside.

According to this website, JSI is going to have this fixed:

http://www.toyark.com/news/military-toy ... ages-1809/

i hope they do not fix it... because if they are still able to fix it that mean they are not that far a long to get it out in nov..

we might get it in jan the latest..

so if they can still fix things thats mean we still can not get it until final production set in...

that takes around three to four months

so i guest we see it when it get here..
whats up doc....

I think 'bumps' are OK in the B/S/T forum, but not on the main forum. If there's something new to say on the topic, please do so. I'm eager for news/discussion on the F-14 too, but I don't believe in keeping a thread alive just for the sake of keeping it alive.

Begging pardon for the first bump - I don't like to double post in any forum. Had just fixed the pic in my most recent post.

hard to tell from the angle of the photo, wonder if the vertical fins are canted outwards like the real plane, straight up like the promo pics or canted inwards as I seem to see in the pic?
