Does anyone have them all?

Post by ExC17load » Tue Apr 07, 2009 2:00 am

I'm not trying to equate our hobby to the Pokemon "Gotta get 'em all" craze, but I am curious to see if anyone out there has them all. Now I'm not talking about weird one-and-only prototypes. I will include the Tendor Terror because people had to work for and then wait for it. So, here is the question, does any one have the complete collection of aircraft? All aircraft and all series? Just curious, and well, I personally would be impressed...maybe even a little jealous.

Also, not including home-made or the expensive ones from Skyworks. Just the ones from the Big 3 that we used to hunt for at TRU and WalMart and the like. You guys know what Im talking about.

That's what I was thinking. If no one does, how close is everyone? Just for discussion purposes.

Almost all my 18th AC have have been from local retailers, around 70; I would guess that at least half of our members have that many and more. I think Lumley in Fla has stated he has at least 145 or so. I missed out on the f-16, f-18 thing altogether.

It's good to brag about our stuff; been that way since the cro-magnon days, give or take a millenia, epoch, eon or whatever

I have at least one of every 21C ground vehicle (not every color scheme but every vehicle). I also have at least one of every 21C 1/6 vehicles except for the 1/6 Bradley.

Planes are "not my thing" so I only have a few "special" favorite planes and helos.

Have 20 1/18 planes total, but got away from the "have to have them all" several years ago in regards to all of the different things I collect.

Im sitting around 70 myself, with a couple duplicates. I wouldnt know what to do what twice that number, especially if they were all out of the boxes. My wife has issues with the ones I have now. If they were doubled, I would be enjoying them out in the garage!

I think once you reach a certain quantity it becomes less of a hobby/collection, but an obsessive problem.

If they're still in their box, in an attic or garage it's nothing more than hoarding.

Ill buy that on both accounts. I fully admit it is an obsession, an addiction, whatever you want to call it. But I put them out and admire. I have never wanted to keep them all hemmed up in a box. I wanted them out for the world (and my family and friends) to see.

Dare I post my pics again ?

Does 2-15 each count as hoarding ? I am pretty sure that I could fill a UPS truck/van with ease. I keep my boxes.

I have seen the pics, otherwise known as evidence. I was impressed! I dont know if that would be called hoarding or obsession. Impressive is all I can think of.

No, don't bother posting your bragging ... err, I mean your 'collection' again. We've seen toy stores that weren't stocked that well.

Hoarders are anti-American. If an item is in the box, brand new, you are not a collector, you are a anti-American warehouse....... Canadians and Aussies are not anti-Americans, they are just not Americans.... sorry.

So, there...

I'd like to say I didn't hoard them, but  but I had AAS (aircraft aquisition syndrome) same can be said for armor :)

I'm hoping one of these days to buy an old abandoned school house and display every one of them in the cafeteria or something.

...er I'm half Aussie does that count?

I've got every model, it's just some of the repaints I'm missing.

Still don't have:

Aircraft:

Spitfire: DWK
Avenger: Bunker Hill
ME-262: Yellow 7
P-47 Razorback: Blond Angel, Huckle De
Buck, a couple others I can't remember.
ME-109: Winter
Corsair: Korean War
Mustang: A few of the later ones (there's just too many so I don't really want them)
FW-190 Euro Exclusive

Armor:

Tiger: Winter
Sherman: Olive & Tan camo
Panther: S1 and D-Day Ambush (who does?)

I think I have most of the armor.
I also, like PH have all the 21st 1/6 armor except for the RC Bradley
Lots of 1/6 GI Joe WWII armor except for the Halftrack.

Have them all? No  Want them all? Aya, but I wouldn't have the room, or the funds anyways. So, I'll guess I'll just settle for what I have. :D

Gosh, with 25 aircraft, and most of them in boxes in my storage loft, I guess I'm a freakin' hoarder! Then again, if I had room to display them all, none of my 1:18 would be in storage.

Happily, armour tends to take up much less space, so most of that is out to be admired.

So that begs the question ... why buy 'em if there's no room for 'em? :( Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to start anything here, just wanting to understand. I have 9 hanging from my 9'X11' room and that's the limit.

I'd like to have more but have no room to display but cannot understand the fascination of having them but not displaying them. :o

Perhaps I'm an addictive personality, and instead of booze, drugs, gambling, or porn, I happen to have a big 1:18 military toy monkey on my back!

But in all seriousness, sometimes I ask myself the same thing - why buy it if I have no room to display it? Frankly, to some degree it really is an obesession.

Most of my recent purchases, though (I've added more pieces in the last four months than I had in the preceding three years) have been due to concern (realistic or not) that if I don't buy it now, it will be too expensive one or two or three years from now.

I figure that I can always sell a piece later on if I want to (and have I sold off pieces from time to time). Plus the Monkey Depot Blammo sale has been a factor - picked up a number of pieces I never would have otherwise.

Anyway, in reponse to the original question of this thread, I don't have every plane and doubt I ever will.
