This is proving to be a terrible move by FOV...doesn't look like anybody is buying these things. Anyone have one out of the box they get share pics of?

buyers gobbled them up around here - most targets had two of them one day and none the next - Honestly it dosnt look bad - I'm happy to just see 1:18 for $24.99 - They are about the same price as 21st was back in the day but now at a $29.99 price - build something cheaper sell it for the same price or lower than the competetion - more money in their pocket for a Tiger or Stug. Id honestly like to see some WWII trucks out of FOV. Besided we can muddy up these things and make them look better than 21st -
What the bad move was was making something that was already out on the market - but they were probably thinking lets undercut 21st while they have them on the TRU shelves and get people interested in what we have to offer. But it is competetion non the less and that also keeps prices down.

Ich liebe den Geruch von Sturzkampfflugzeug morgens.
It appears that the word "competition" according to FOV seems to define re-making anything that 21st has made. FOV has come up with their versions of the Shermans, Tigers and now halftracks. I wonder if they will ever go in the other direction and make something unique for their 1/18th scale lineup. The Stryker would be a step in the right direction.

It is toy-like, but like stated above, a bit of mud and a grime will do it good. Those are the easiest weathering techniques, and I use them quite a bit. I'm not great at them but if it's not too hard on 1/32, it's can't be much harder on such a large scale. I mean, yeah, some things just because of pure size, but I've done my MiG up and it looks great so far. It just takes so long to do an entire 1/18 piece compared to a 1/32 piece. Especially aircraft. Armor is a bit easier.
But, give it a blackish-brown wash to bring out the panel lines and wait for that to dry, and then give it a brushing of mud. Then, if you wanna make it look even older, chip the edges with a primer/metal color. I'm definately not an expert but I am pelased with what I've done before and it takes a good 30 minutes to an hour for a quick job.
I'm sure with some TLC and some mods these could be nice pieces. Although I agree that they could do better out of the box. I think what FOV should focus on is new things, like said before. Goind where others have gone before is safe, but it's not going to net you the huge profit of going after something like a Stug or a T-34 that everyone wants in this scale, and has never been done. They need to read this site.
Sorry for the long post. I missed the forum for too long, haha.

I been thinking about it and I don't think its a bad idea for FOV to copy whatever 21CT made. If it means a King Tiger next year for $30 something dollars without an interior just like 21CTs', (heck, maybe even a 88 Flak gun!) then I'm all for them to copy considering the current price to buy it (not counting the pre-order deals).immeww2 wrote:It appears that the word "competition" according to FOV seems to define re-making anything that 21st has made. I saw these again last night and dithered for about five minutes over whether to grab one or not. I decided not to.

Finally found and bought my M-16 today at the Costa Mesa Target.
For some weird reason it would not be checked out no matter how many times it was scanned, me giving the retail price, typing up the upc or the retail price, or pressing any override buttons, so I waited 30 minutes while one of the supervisors went to dig up the price from the website. The employees were friendly throughout the ordeal through.
I'll try to provide some out of the box pics later.

Its actually a sticker.P39time wrote:It looks pretty nice. The only thing I don't like is the cardboard looking instrument panel.
Nope, the figures slide and sit in the seats without a problem.holensock wrote:Looks like the figures can fit inside without having to take their legs off!
Any difficulty getting them to sit in the seats?

nice pics - thanks for posting.
Like some of the other FoV it has some very nice aspects that the 21C model does not have and now I think I may need it in a very annoying way. I really like the back, and the way the side armor is accurately cut down.
Not to push luck, but does anyone have side-to-side photos with any 21C halftrack? I'm wondering if size is roughly the same and they could convoy together.
