I ordered two 88's from MTS instead of Badcat even though the purchase would have qualifed for free shipping, but I would've been stuck paying the sales tax. With MTS, I got free shipping and no sales tax.

Man, that thing looks amazing. I would love to get a couple, but that price just kills. It's even difficult to muster the will to get one.

How were the 88's towed around? By truck, half track, tank even?
Best,
-Paul

The 88 was towed by a large 8 ton(IIRC) halftrack. No one makes anything in 1/18 large enough to tow it currently.

correct; it was usually towed by the sdkfz 7, 8 ton halftrack...of which we don't have in 1/18. Sadly.

However, an ambitious customizer could make a sdkfz 11 out of an indy truck and an XD hanomag and they were used to tow 88's quite a bit in north africa, which just happens to be the scheme of the S1 88. They weren't designed to tow that large a piece but they did.

The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it, as long as you really believe 100 percent.

I hate you all!!

I hate you all!! I just went and ordered this thing from MTS. Now I know what to do with all the DAK figs I bought at Wal-Mart for $2 when they were dumping them.

Unfortunately, now I have to dump some stuff to make room for it. Look for my new sales post next week.

Custom 88s

Post by lightning2000 » Thu Oct 30, 2008 9:24 am

Hi,
I would think you could get a pretty penny for a customized 88 in say a Norman tri-color camouflage scheme. No telling when other versions of this gun will come out...

MTS has updated their website to say they are inbound and MTS is printing up mailing labels.

I have an uncleared charge in my bank account for $89.99 so looks like they're close.
