This plane is better looking in your hand than the pics, the extra details is worth having another 109.

Paint

Post by Dauntless » Thu Aug 28, 2008 3:35 pm

The paint issue kinda bugged me when I first saw Tman's pics.
I guess I'm overly picky when it comes to those little things, and I was hesitating on buying one for that reason only.
However boxed photos have been showing up on ebay and most recently at Smalljoes, showing the exaust on the fuselage as it should be. So they look like the promotional high-rez picks we saw before it was in stock, so all is good, hopefully.

looks very nice in that picture, for sure. You'd never guess the pilot is quite a bit on the small side, would you?

Overall, this looks like a real winner from bbi. I would say their best plane to date. I was concerned about the fit of the cowling; would there be unsightly gaps when closed? But according to Tman's review that's not a problem.

Home Run BBI!

(keep 'em coming)

What's most interesting, to me, is too see if these show up at TRU. Mike always said that BBI would never release a plane without major retailer support. Has that philosophy changed perhaps? He also said they'd never do German, and that has certainly changed. So maybe BBI has decided to go etailer/small brick and mortar only? That would definitely be a good thing.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

I'm still waiting to see the camo PAK at the local TRU.
Have not see any BBI other than corsair and mustang.

aferg, mine does have some small gaps when closed and one MG doesn't really line up with the holes. At first it irked me but this model looks so damn good with the cowling up I decided I would not only live with it but am happy with it. This thing is every bit as detailed as the F-6, a real winner.

No I am not Cajun. I came down 25 years ago . MY 109s are on the way but I will not be here to receive them. I hope they don't get blown away. That is if the mail is running . Usually they stop it for the hurricane. We will see.

Hope you put everything high and dry, of course it's plastic unless you're a mimb collector.
I would say put everything in the attic, but as you say it might get blown away.
I guess I'm just going to wish you the best, and may the whole thing pass over. You all have been through enough already down there.

BBI 1:18 ME-109

Post by warbike » Sun Aug 31, 2008 10:15 am

Got mine a week ago and like the model very much. I like the figure inside the cockpit instead of displaying him outside. Also going to repaint an IJ truck to display with the aircraft as well. Goes well with my 21st century ME-109 G's. But the 1:18 tropical ME-109 E-4 goes with it the best.

Ordered the BBI 109 from Badcat this morning. In order to get the free shipping, I also got the 1:32 Dauntless. Then I used the LABORDAY08 code to get an additional $10 off. So it came out to 94.48 total.
I couldn't pass this up.

You can get this at Michigan Toy Soldier for $50. If you sign up for the newsletter you can take another 10 percent off anytime you make a purchase, not just labor day. That brings the price down to $45 and shipping is only 8 bucks.

I've purchased from Badcat before because they tend to have a good selection, but they are way over priced, even during a sale.

Thanks for the info. I checked though and no 1:18 109. The 1:32 Dauntless is 49.00, which is higher than BCA, most of their 21st 1:18 is $64 as opposed to the $59 at BCA. So with the discount it's about even, but the shipping to my zip was $12.
However their green 1:18 Zero is at $49 as opposed to $70 at BCA (that's the regular Zero not the Kounoike)

Smalljoes has everybody beat on the 1:32's, Dauntless at $39 and $49 for the F-4 Phantom, but no free shipping deal, so it's six and one half of another sometimes.

I bookmarked it anyways cause ya never know.

Wow, good price! alas mine is on it's way.

I'll keep those guys in mind next time.
Wish I could find a site with more older releases.

If you think about it though at $94 for the 109 and the Dauntless with free shipping is about the same.

BTW: the Labor Day sale is held over at BCA for another day.

I'm tempted to get this but I'm holding off for a european paint scheme. I may change my mind.

Yeah, I would like to see another paint scheme on this, but it is the first "G" model with desert markings.

Sure would like to see BBI do a G6 of Hartmann's Black Tulip.

There are some good versions of the G2 though. I think Hartmann flew one with a yellow nose and tail, though that might have been an F model.
