You know the clear stands that are used to mount the model aircraft to be placed on a table. I was thinking about using one for the 1/18th Buzz Bomb.
Any ideas? Thanks.
Source for aircraft stands?
Something that is a little expensive and requires some handwork is to buy a small adjustable (pan and tilt) CCTV camera mount with the standard threaded bolt and locknut.
Buy some Sculpey Original Modeling clay

- this is the stuff that doesn't dry in the air, you bake it when you get it to the shape you want. Mold your "saddle" at the center of gravity of the airplane - big enough that it provides enough surface so the plane won't just slide off. Use a bolt the same size as the camera mount and tap the underside, then bake it and when it cools, remove the bolt and you have a custom-shaped mount for that airplane.
Spray paint it in whatever color you like and dip the top surface that comes in contact with the model in a liquid tool-grip product. That will help keep it from moving even more.
On the planes where you can't build a contact-saddle like that, like the Avenger with the bay doors open, you can make your own plastic/lexan mount and expoxy a nylon nut to it.
The pan/tilt adjustment makes this really nice for displaying on surfaces.
Good luck!
