TRU in Lewisville, TX had 6 of the AVG re-releases and a handful of the little 1:144 packages.

The only other WWII airplane in stock was a 1:32 Forces of Valor P-51.

The Roseville TRU had several Stuka zu fusses, several George Laven F-104s, M16 halftracks, and some DAK arty spotters.

Soooooo................. If it were'nt for the P-40s in the new boxes at the local TRUs, the shelves would be lined with ... what? I don't even see any more george 104s, seeman 109s, bunker hill corsairs, or migs anymore. But, I'll give a wee bit of credit where its due; I'm still tempted by a single mustang- the flying undertaker- I really have enough-and one store with an abundance of green bbi old crows still, and another store with some leftover daisy june corsairs- I have enough corsairs, too..

AVG Flying Tiger P40's in Commemorative box

Post by JOC » Wed Jul 09, 2008 7:08 am

Can anyone out there help me acquire one of these? I have NO TRU's in my AO and cannot seem to find one anywhere. I have good trading references with members on this board and can pay with PayPal or any way that is easier for you. I live in Bellingham, Wa and would appreciate any help in getting one. If one could be found without much box damage, I would also appreciate it.
Thanks for anyone who can help me out.

which one of "these" are you interested in? All I would guess, but which do ya really, really really want- the OD bbi old crows are about 40 miles away from me- not that convenient for either of us.

well, good lord..if ya drove down 400 into the buckhead TRU, you would see 9 of 'em in about pristine boxes - pm me if you want to and tell me whats available to trade, first and foremost, and we'll go from there. If no good trades then I'd accept a postal money order or good check- whatever it takes to clear at least one space for something new. I don't have a list of trading references- I rarely indulge in any board trading-most of the BBI/21st stuff shows up at one point or another in the atlanta area.

4 collector's edition P-40s (i.e. new box art) at the Dublin, CA TRU.
I failed to mention the price increase to $44.99, as indicated too by the generic "1:18 plane" price tag on the shelf. I think the days of $39.99 as standard 1:18 plane pricing may be over. I doubt that the increase is due to the 'collector edition' status.

I'm noticing the toy price hikes are pretty common at this point, but still $5's not bad at all on a $40 item... Same as a $4.99 figure going to $5.19 isn't a big deal.

You wanna b!tch about something, look at Star Wars... $6.99 to $7.99 is gonna sting should it take full effect. Fortunately it seems like most of the rest of the line's prices are holding steady. A full $1 increase on a figure hurts the wallet. It's not incremental at all.

I was at a local TRU this AM and it seems the Nam figures are sold out ( which is good news for 21st). The only XD figs they had were the DAK MG guy...... 29 of them. :?

! Golden Compass figs are marked down from $1.00 to .80 cents, not all that many figures left but check it out.

Not a TRU sighting, but the Fresno Hobbytown USA store had a minor restock of their 21c items, getting in a couple BBD P-51s in the new box, a BH Avenger, Russian Mig, P-38, ME-262A and a ME-262B.

I decided to give in and get the "California Cutie" P-38. The store had had a couple for the longest time - and I resisted - then they were gone until today. The price was very fair and I saved about $15-$20 by not paying for shipping. The plane has a good paint scheme and no serious QC issues, so I'm pleased. Its only my second P-38.

TMANTHEGREAT:

What was the price of California Cutie at Hobbytown?
I've seen a couple of merchants say that 21st has discontinued California Cutie so I bought one last month. TKO211 said it will be replaced by a P-38 repaint---silver with blue trim.

This is a completely random comment which no one in the forum should take to heart, but...

I'm so tired of 21st Century aviation stuff. It's so boring.

I went to all four KC TRU's and the one in Topeka this weekend. Just about all of them had two to three P40's. I also saw one Mig and a Canadian F104. What did supprise me was that only two store had one each of the Quad 50 trailers left. Somebody must be buying them. Saw lots of SDKFZ251 w/Pak40 and the new paint M16 halftracks. Not many figures either. A few of the DAK with MG.

Just the usual suspects down here-P-51 Flying Undertaker and Smoke 104. Wish they would bring on some P-40's.

if you guys are planning to buy (if you hadn't bought one) any P-40, etc.

well TRU will be giving out (i think they already did) a coupon book "Passport of Savings" for August

you get a 20% Off on any ONE item. (only one?!?!)

The first coupon is for the week of 8/15, the second coupon is for the week of 8/22.

some useful info for you guys.

now if only my TRU has something i could exploit the deal.

Thanks, Topnotch97.
Good information for August.

Might want to make a seperate post for this in the Buy/Sell/Trade section of the board, as some may miss this information in this thread.

DFW Update

Post by dandaman » Tue Jul 29, 2008 5:41 pm

Fort-Worth report: the TRU over here has a slew of German halftracks with camo pattern. I must have counted at least 12? I've never seen that many of any sort of 21st vehicle in one place!

Plane restock Alert!

Dublin, CA Tru got a fresh shipment: F-104 Camo, Mig-15 Chinese, P-51 Old Crow, P-51 Flying Undertaker. 1 P-40 remains from the last restock.

I bought the 104 in hopes that some day I can pair it with an F-4. What the heck, I can dream. (I also bought the Old Crow for some reason. Could not resist).
