Does this plane land at the Mustang ranch...?

Post by c44 » Sat Mar 29, 2008 11:44 pm

Found the Bunny Mustang at the local TRU...now the last thing I needed was another P-51, but this is an exquisite work of art (and not a QC flaw to be seen anywhere)...I jumped on this one like the Luv Gov pouncing on Ashley Alexandra Dupre...either I've had a streak of good fortune lately or 21CT has gotten a handle on their pesky quality issues...maybe the unsteady Chinese assemblers have finally been granted a 6 minute lunch break... :)

I keep waiting to find the bunny! but they keep restocking with ridgerunners, undertakers, and another I cant think of at the moment. But they seem to be moving rathewr quick unless TRU empolyees just take and switch boxes out each week!

As have both the Fresno stores

That was on top of the two "George" F-104s that came with the initial batch of 1:18 planes a couple months ago... The good news is that at least in my area, all the P-51s, Bf-109s, Corsairs, and the Migs have sold and I was not the person who bought them all 8)

I was at a local TRU today and happy to say 1:18th is selling very well. The Nam figures are almost gone, at one time there were 12 pegs full of them. Now there's 1 or 2 per peg. All the Hano Paks and Pak 40's sold. Hopefully one day we'll see King Tigers being sold at Tanks R US.

TRU in Lewisville, TX has only one 1:18 item, a Flying Undertaker P-51. It appears they arent' carrying BBI anymore.

Our Charleston ToysRUs no longer carries BBI planes or ground vehicles. Just 21st. Today they got in 4 1:18 P-40 Special Edition Flying Tigers. Nice boxes. I also picked me up the Red 19 new 1/32 FW190A. They also had the Sharkmouth 1/32 P-51D. I passed on that one. Already have some 1/32 B and C models I like and I don't really like any of the D model releases yet. They still have a couple Shangrila stangs, lots of different 1:32 and 1:18 armour. And still have that sole Seemann BF109. He had a Flying Undertaker friend for a couple months but now he's gone, but at least he gained a set of quadruplet P-40's. They need homes too... just not mine. My wife will kill me!

TRU's here do have a healthy variety of planes... I like the Tuskegee Mustang and if I didn't already own a BBI I'd probably buy that one because it's so vibrantly decoed... Though I must admit I like the D-Day marking Mustang better overall.

Anyway... Lots of planes here, but armor/land stuff is less so... Camo Pak's are overpriced at over $30. I'd love one, or even two at $20, but at $30 + I'm reluctant to buy. :(

We never got the quad trailer. I actually wanted this too, to put in a BotB frontline diorama thing, but whatever. Such is life I guess... We never got the Merril's Marauders set either around here so I just chalk it up to another disappointing distribution thing.

There's also no Hano's around here. They came, but went just as fast here.

TRU - San Diego

Post by bpxbrian » Sun Apr 13, 2008 6:51 am

Here in San Diego I've been able to find the Ultimate Soldier 1:18 planes of:

F-104C (George and Canadian model)
P-51 (Old Crow)
Mig-15 (Korean)
F4U Corsair (Bunker Hill)

and about....4 boxes of Elite Force Daisy June Corsair.

I'd love to find the F-86 Huff, new P-40 Flying Tigers.

Where did the variety of Elite Force stuff go? Slow down at the production facility? Why doesn't TRU have a nice stock Elite Force plane variety?

We still have a bunch of the Quad trailers here. The first batch sold pretty quick but the restock has been sitting. I am considering buying them and moving them to another store since TRU can't get the inventory right

Well Found about 5 P-40 Warhawk flying tigers today at TRU at Stonecrest in DeKalb County - great box, normal price but passed - already have the last round of p-40s. I really hope these sell fast. Seems the planes sold great only last month but they restocked real quick with the same type planes. 21st planes are still going though and the BBI planes are not moving at all.

Down here I was surprised to see the new DAK kneelable MG figures, of which I have some, but none of the DAK artillary spotters and German riflemen which I need badly :( Da General

Yesterday I stopped at the TRU in Lewisville, Tx and was surprised to see SdKfz with the full complements of rockets as well as the P-51 Undertaker.

So the Stuka zu Fuss is at TRU? It wouldn't be surprising, but good find!

It appeared to be new markings/paint schema but am not for sure. Next time I am at that TRU I will snap a quick photo with my phone and post it.

I remember it being a lighter tan camo for the body and the rockets being a darker green than the previous Stuka zu Fuss.

Then its got to be a new release. The rockets on the one i have are brown and the camo is dark tan with red, green camo. But that would be great if you could snap a pic 8)
