new FOV 1/16 Sherman

Post by dragon53 » Tue Feb 12, 2008 7:24 pm

Here is the new FOV 1/16 Sherman ($409.00 pre-order):

It looks similar to their 1/32 Sherman with troops and sandbags:

Agreed. I could purchase a whole brigade of 21st and BBI 1/18 scale tanks for that amount of moolah.

Maybe I am a snob but I to think that is a tad too much to pay for a Sherman. But a FOV Panther, Mk IV, Stug, Wespen , Marder 3......
Kirk Douglas : Mine hit the ground first
John Wayne : Mine was taller

I think the picture is still of the 1:32 Sherman, as the figures look exactly like those for that tank and I would expect FOV to make better-looking figures for the 1:16 series vehicle

That's actually their 1/32 Sherman. I guess they have no pic yet of their 1/16 Sherman?

But yeah, I'd definitely get one. It's worth getting a large, detailed model of the tank that help win the war in the West. :)

1:16 Sherman

Post by lightning2000 » Wed Feb 13, 2008 4:35 am

Hi,
I agree it could very well be the 1:32 Sherman still being used in place of the real McCoy. The ship date is pushed back to August (for now) and with Chinese New Year, it could very well be a case where they are again temporarily using a different vehicle until the real one can be called up. There's a couple of other items in the brochure that are marked as new but have images of past vehicles occupying their space.

If its being shown at Toy Fair this week, we'll snap a few pix and post them. Likewise, anything else they may be showing, such as any new 1:18 scale vehicles.

That's a great looking Sherman and the detailing/weathering is impressive. The figures are certainly the best I've seen with a tank. At $409, it proves you get what you pay for.

BUT the best part is it is mostly diecast!

The hull, the turret, the tracks....a first as the tigers both I and II
had plastic hulls...this Sherman is very cool

Yes, and it's impressive that FOV can produce figures that (1. don't look like popeye and (2. have correctly colored pants.

I believe only the later M4A3's with the T-23 turret and the M4A3E8 for sure had the grousers blocked off.
