GMP 1/18 accessories

Post by Threetoughtrucks » Sun Jan 20, 2008 2:32 pm

Anybody familar with these guys?
"Georgia Marketing & Promotions"

They have a line of racecars and dragsters in 1/18 and ?. They also have a line of super detailed racing 1/6 engines. They have a 1/6 Flathead Ford V-8 which is superb. I've been waiting for one to pop up, under the normal price of around $175 to $200, nothing so far....anyway I just found this set of garage tools in 1/18. Just would knock your socks off.
Here's a few pics. Sorry for my blurry dio pic but I was shooting into bright glare and enjoying playing with the set.....this stuff, with a little Army green paint and a little tongue in cheek for when these tools actually existed.

BTW: This set was $11 on eBay. Buys can be found.

They (did) make some highly detailed 1/35 scale Warbirds which are fantastic..

GMP has been around for quite a few years and have had those accessory sets for sale for several years. They used to be real big in Nascar diecast but not as much anymore. The make some of the most detaild 1/18 race and street cars you can find. Their planes look nice but I have never seen one in person.

I bought some of their items including what you've posted here some a few years back. Very good stuff and they seem to have covered a very untapped niche. You can paint the tool boxes/trays OD green and it'll fit right in on any Hanger type dio. Pretty bad ass.

I can guarantee you the you did not get the GMP set at WM!
GMP have never sold at BB stores.

I feel that I have single-handed paid for some of the payroll at GMP from all of their diecast offerings.

Their site is www.gmpdiecast.com They have come a long way and diversified from their days of offering repaints of Ertl 1/18 cars.

Has anyone tried painting these up to look like 1:18 military ground crew for aircraft or armor?

If you put those guys in OD coveralls and put the fat guy in khaki (to be a Navy Chief), you'd have a US Navy surface warfare helo support crew!!!!

For that matter, you wouldn't even have to repaint the three enlisted guys...
