Yes, quite easily. I disassembled one of mine a while back to add a little weathering and a few coats of ultra flat clear. A couple hours of work, a little paint, pastel and oil wash, and you have a very sharp looking M1.topnotch97 wrote:i got a question.
would i be able to take apart a BBi Abrams for any custom paint job?
say take it apart and paint some weathering effect?
Go ahead, take a whack at it. At these Target prices, you're not out much if you mess it up.

When I first found the BBi stuff at Target, I grabbed the M1 and LAV right away, figuring this was going to be a short-lived inventory item. How wrong I was.
After bemoaning the fact that there were no woodland camo Humvees at my Target, suddenly a few appeared. Of course I picked one up and was happy as could be. Two weeks later and the shelves here in SW PA are overflowing with stock. Where was this a month ago? Prices are $14 for Humvees, $18 for M1s and LAVs.
I've been sitting on the fence about picking up the Super Humvee, but at these prices, I couldn't resist any longer.
It irks me that there is this mountain of vehicles and the figures keep being restocked, but I still have yet to find the newer BBi figs. I'm too far away from a TRU, and there's no way I'm paying scalpers on eBay $10 a piece... especially when I know they were going for less than a buck (still upset I missed out on that).
I complete the Target surveys they have on their receipts, and I usually mention BBi stock, for better or for worse. Still no new figs tho...

I was told by a Target employee a while back that any clearance merchandise that doesn't sell goes to the GoodWill stores. I don't think it goes to a standard GW but more likely one of the newer larger retail store types. There are two that have opened recently that I mean to check out at some point.
I'm thinking this is where the BBI stuff might go if it isn't all gone by Christmas.
Anyone had any experience here?

I've never personally heard that...
Stores don't usually just give things away. What happens sometimes is the company they purchased it from has a contract to do a "buy back" on unsold product after a certain percentage off...
Target though usually does clearances in staggered % off stages... First stage hits a % off, then a lower one, and lower, and so on until it hits the maximum % off. Usually the first one, two, or sometimes even three stages the company is STILL profiting on the toy/item actually, and the latter stages usually the item is sold for a slight loss.
The numbers the price ends in often is an indicator of whether or not it's the final markdown too. I don't know the specifics on that offhand, I just know they usually make the last markdown so theprice ends in a certain number and it's finally "done".
I've never seen anything at its lowest price cut NOT sell though. And I've never heard of Target donating anything. I think perhaps that was smoke being blown to sound like a good friendly neighborhood company, but that's my take.

Not sure about that. But I do know that Target discounts things till they are up to 90% off.at those prices doubt any is really left to send to goodwill too many people online follow the markdowns at target and scoop up the cheapy stuff no matter what it is and resell etc.
I don't do it but I do follow the threads etc talking about the markdowns etc.
Dang jesse ,just about said the same thing I see right before I posted D/OH

Heh...
Yeah, at those prices though I could see charity groups buying just to have things to give away too. It's not unheard of and I know I've bought clearance toys to donate in the past to Toys for Tots just so they get more for the $$$.
BBI is a toy I think any kid would love to get if you're in the giving mood too... Well, any boy anyway. Great toys and the price means you could give a kid something really fun for the holidays.

Hit local one again today(Silverdale WA) nothing new no new mark downs either .the clerk did say that they were going to receive the final shipment of toys for the year this week so we shall see what is in it.
Did find where some one had hidden some starwars figures behind the tanks. So being real nice I put them back up on the pegs for them

along time ago someone told me about the walmart layaway plan - they explained people will hide items they can't afford that day underneath the floor part of the shelf - It will lift easily if nothing heavy is stocked on it.
I havnt tried the target aisle - may try tonight - but Id find all kinds of marvel legends and hotwheels some starwars etc hidden on the dusty floor - the poormans lay-away

Walmart is generally where you find the under-the-aisle stuff. For Target, I've seen people hide stuff in coolers in the sporting good section. And TRU, my favorite is the ones who hide stuff in the overhead bins a few aisles away from where the rest of the products are. You can't but help them put these toys back.
The best one of this was done by the store. A month or so ago, TRU sent out a coupon for a free My Little Pet Shop figure. We take my daughter, and the front counter says they are sold out. So, we pick up the other item they have listed my daughter didn't really want. But, for the heck of it, I went back to the aisle and got on my tippie toes to reach the back of the bin (keeping in mind I'm 6-5 - we're talking WAY back) and what do I find? About 20 of the figures that they were "sold out" of. Slimy b@st@rds.
